UM Athletics invites applications for a
Facilities Associate to oversee the daily cleaning of the Athletics Champions Center and work various Athletic and Adams Center events as necessary.
Athletic Department employees and those University employees outside the Athletic Department with NCAA rules compliance responsibilities are subject at all times to NCAA Bylaws 10.1 and 11.1 regarding ethical conduct and the responsibility to positively contribute to a campus culture of NCAA rules compliance. Failure to conduct oneself as such will result in disciplinary or corrective action up to and including immediate discharge.
Examples of Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain the cleanliness, sanitation, and overall appearance of assigned campus buildings and facilities
- Perform routine custodial services, including floor care, waste removal, restroom sanitation, and classroom and common area cleaning
- Operate and maintain custodial equipment and supplies using safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible cleaning practices
- Monitor facility conditions, report maintenance or safety concerns, and support building security and operational standards
- Participate in required training, follow established safety procedures, and perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental operations

- High School diploma or equivalent
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain a safe work environment

Preferred Qualifications
- Possess more than twelve (12) months directly related cleaning experience, or a combination of experience and education
- Ability to perform seasonal/cyclical cleaning work such as carpet extraction and refinishing floors
Physical Requirements

- Lifting: Floor to 30 inches, up to 50 pounds. Floor to 60 inches, up to 35 pounds. Floor to overhead, up to 5 pounds sustained, with both hands. (Lifting buffer, Floor to 30", 70 pounds optional.)
- Carrying: 2 handed front carry up to 35 pounds for 50 feet. (Carrying buffer up stairs, 70 pounds optional.)
- Pushing and pulling forces required (during the use of cleaning equipment 25 pounds, handling janitor's cart 5 pounds).
- Pushing and pulling forces required (handling, pushing and pulling classroom and office furniture, file cabinets, and equipment): 30 pounds sustained at waist level (60 pounds optional)
- Static trunk forward bending and twisting from a standing, crouching or kneeling position while using tools.
- Reaching with your arms in all directions, including overhead with 5 pounds in both hands, sustained.
- Working overhead from various positions (standing, squatting, and kneeling).
- Balancing when climbing and working on a ladder.
- Use of various hand grip circumferences and firm hand grip positions while manipulating various tools and equipment (maximum 50 pounds).

Work Schedule: Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week), Monday through Friday 4:00 pm to 12:00 am (Midnight), weekends as needed, 12 months/year
Probationary Period: Six (6) months minimum
