Job description

SUMMARY: WEEKENDS REQUIRED

The Gate Guard is stationed at the gate entrance to meet and greet all incoming employees, vendors, trucks and deliveries. The Gate Guard is to act as security by verifying employees, and visitors recording a log of incoming and outgoing times of all persons that cross the gate.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION AND BASIC DUTIES:

  • The Gate Guard guards the entrance to the facility and grounds, warehouse, or other property to control traffic to and from the buildings and grounds areas.
  • Inspect inbound and outbound trailers and seals to prevent unauthorized removal of products or property and record on the appropriate form.
  • Prevent unauthorized individuals from entering restricted areas. No vendor is authorized to drive around back of the building unless authorized.
  • Gate Guards use the Gate Log to record employees accurate time in, time out and reasons for leaving for example lunch, bank, Lowes, etc. Any person that crosses the gate must be on the log. If a manager, supervisor or employee leaves and returns later employees are always recorded on the Gate Log. Notify HR of any employee that has returned to the facility after the END of their shift.
  • Each Guard will begin his/her shift with their own set of reporting logs which includes the Gate Monitor Report, Truck Log and Visitor Log.
  • Weekly Gate Guard Employee Vehicle checks will be performed. This includes managers, supervisors and employees. If employees refuse vehicle check notify HR.
  • If the Guard needs to step away to use the facilities always go out and check the gate for any vehicle that might be waiting.
  • The Gate Guard must check all New Hire Employees and Visitors ID’s and Company name. Visitors or Deliveries must be directed to the front office area to park. The manager/supervisor must be contacted to verify the appointment to be on premises.
  • If an employee or visitor fails to park in the designated front office area and drives around the back building notify the Plant Manager immediately or HR. No employee or visitor is allowed to park behind the building. Authorization is required to park behind the building.
  • The Gate Guard will observe the employee parking area, observe break time of employees going to vehicles or picnic areas, employees leaving the parking area.
  • The Gate Guard at 7:30pm will close half the gate and put a cone out while performing Emergency and Exit Door checks (take a flashlight). Checking Doors #1 - #9.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager or supervisor.
  • Must perform duties thoroughly and accurately.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Gate Guard experience - minimum less than one year.
  • Gate guard is a critical role employee must be reliable, on time with no absences.
  • Basic reading and comprehension of forms.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English and/or Spanish.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Back, Upper and Lower Extremities

  • Must be able to use both legs to bend and stoop.
  • Must be able to direct driver or employee to parking areas.

Eyes

  • Must be able to see and record tag information, license plates.

Skills:

  • Record legible time in gate, time out gate.
  • Bilingual

ENIRONMENTAL EXPOSURE:

  • Exposed to all season weather working in a small Guard building.
  • Ambient air temperature.
