Job description

Description:Seasonal Gate Guard Temporary Part-Time
Introduction

This position involves providing security at a perimeter gate of the Lincoln Airport during times of construction activity. The duration of this temporary job is based on each construction project necessitating a Lincoln Airport Authority Gate Guard. Part-time work hours will be in the afternoon and evening Monday through Saturday. Some Sunday work hours may be required. This is a part-time/temporary position and does not include any Airport Authority benefit plans.


Position Details:
• Pay: $18.56 per hour
• Part-time / Temporary (not benefit eligible)
• Overnight shifts Noon - 6:00 PM

• Evening shifts 6:00 PM - Midnight
• Monday–Saturday schedules
• Shifts are typically 6–8 hours

• $1.25 Shift differential when working between the hours of 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM
• Additional shifts may be available during the week
• Occasional Sunday hours may be required


This role will remain active based on the airport's construction project needs.

Essential Functions

  • Secure the assigned perimeter gate.
  • Verify personnel clearance to enter the Air Operations Area (AOA) through the assigned gate.
  • Maintain a security log for the assigned gate.
  • Inspect equipment and vehicles as necessary before clearance to enter the AOA.
  • Explain and enforce escort rules and regulations.
  • Conduct themselves in a pleasant, professional, and courteous manner at all times.
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is a crucial function of the position.
  • Other duties, tasks, and responsibilities may be assigned at any time.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with Airport policies, procedures, and safety practices.
  • Exhibit a friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and pleasant demeanor.
  • Learns and maintains familiarity with aviation and airline industry terms.
  • Must be able to read, speak, and write English fluently.
  • Must be flexible, have excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well with all levels of management, staff, the public, and airport vendors.
  • Must have excellent attention to detail, be organized, accurate, and reliable.
  • Recognize and maintain the confidentiality and sensitivity of certain documents and knowledge.
  • Have the ability to be part of a team to accomplish the necessary work.
  • Ability to understand and follow moderately complex oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and to maintain effective work relationships to accomplish job responsibilities with airport employees, tenants, users, and contractors.
  • Ability to attend work regularly at the designated place and time.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to contractors, tenants, and other employees of the organization.

Education and/or Experience

No prior experience or training required.

Safety Requirements

Adherence to standards established in the LAA Employee Handbook, Policy Directives, Airport Rules and Regulations, Standard Operating Procedures, and all other established safety requirements applicable to the position is required.


Work Environment

This position works primarily outdoors from a small, climate-controlled gatehouse equipped with heating and air conditioning. The role involves checking individuals and vehicles in and out of the Air Operations Area (AOA) while working around large commercial vehicles, construction traffic, and contractor equipment. Due to the nature of the position, employees may be exposed to varying weather conditions when outside the gatehouse.


Condition of Employment

The employee is required to meet the essential functions, skills, abilities, etc., listed in this document. The employee must be at least 18 years of age. Successful completion of pre-employment reference check, drug screening, criminal history check, and other requirements as per Lincoln Airport Authority policy. Any associated costs for the screenings will be covered by the Lincoln Airport Authority.
