Job Title: Safety Engineer
Job Description
The Safety Engineer develops, implements, and continuously improves health and safety programs across the organization, providing leadership and technical support to operations, engineering, quality, maintenance, and hourly personnel. This role ensures compliance with OSHA Process Safety Management and leads Process Hazard Analyses, and drives incident investigations and root cause analyses. The Safety Engineer plays a key role in supporting safe, efficient production of complex products in a highly regulated industrial environment, while contributing to a culture of safety, quality, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and continuously enhance company-wide health and safety programs that support safety, production, quality, and cost goals.
- Provide leadership and technical assistance on safety matters to operations, engineering, quality, maintenance, and hourly personnel.
- Ensure full compliance with OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements, including managing, coordinating, and implementing all 14 elements of the OSHA PSM standard.
- Lead and document Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) efforts for new and existing processes and programs.
- Conduct oversight and auditing of safety and PSM programs to verify compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses, and drive effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure company compliance including the development, implementation, and maintenance of site safety plans.
- Prepare and deliver effective employee safety training programs covering environmental health, occupational safety, and health and safety topics.
- Communicate safety requirements, findings, and initiatives clearly and effectively across different functional groups.
- Manage time and multiple priorities effectively to meet deadlines and support ongoing operations.
- Collaborate regularly with inspectors, manufacturing teams, and supplier quality engineering (SQE) teams on safety-related matters.
- Coordinate cross-functionally with R&D, Manufacturing, Operations, and Quality to integrate safety considerations into plant design, plant layout, and process changes.
- Use MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint to document safety activities, prepare reports, and create training and presentation materials.
- Support and participate in safety planning, hazard analysis, and environmental health initiatives.
- Be willing to work extended hours when needed to meet critical safety and operational deadlines.
Essential Skills
- 3+ years of experience working in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) at a shop floor or industrial level.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements.
- Hands-on experience conducting Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and other hazard analysis activities.
- Demonstrated ability to lead incident investigations and perform thorough root cause analyses.
- Experience with safety audits, compliance assessments, and implementation of corrective actions.
- Experience in preparing and presenting effective employee safety training programs.
- Ability to communicate effectively across different functional groups, including R&D, Manufacturing, Operations, and Quality.
- Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated time management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks.
- Willingness to work extended hours when required to meet deadlines.
- Solid understanding of occupational safety, environmental health, and health and safety principles.
- Experience in industrial engineering concepts related to plant design and plant layout.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with a focus in Occupational Safety or Industrial/Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- Experience working in EHS within manufacturing or industrial environments involving complex processes.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
