Job description

Role: SQL Developer/Data Engineer

Location: Burnham, IL

Logistics: On-Site 5 days/week

Type: Direct Hire/Permanent Placement

Starting Salary: $100,000 - $125,000 (depending on years of experience, certifications, etc.)

Overview:

A client of Phaxis is seeking a SQL Developer/Data Engineer for a full-time, on-site role at our Burnham, IL. They will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining database solutions that support business operations. This includes performing data modeling, implementing ETL processes, creating efficient database designs, analyzing data to drive strategic decisions, and maintaining database security and performance. The role will also involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to support both current business requirements and future growth initiatives.

Qualifications and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates leadership, self-motivation, problem-solving, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Works independently as a self-starter as well as in collaboration with a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Designs and develops ETL pipelines to integrate various sources of data, including Excel, Flat Files and REST API sources into MSSQL Server using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
  • Utilizes critical thinking and creativity in coordination with stakeholders in the development of T-SQL Database Solutions to meet various business requirements.
  • Creates and maintains reports using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
  • Monitors SQL Server Agent jobs, diagnosing problems and implementing resolutions as needed.
  • Improves and maintains existing database solutions.
  • Provides operational support, investigating problems that arise in database solutions and business applications.
  • Identifies new technologies and resources to improve the information and technology landscape.
  • Maintains reference and standards documentation.
  • Troubleshoots issues with Access Databases and Google forms.
  • Knowledge in C#, XML and JSON.


Skills, Experience, and Education:ย 

  • Knowledge of API creation.
  • Proficient in the use of MSSQL tools, especially SSIS - including SQL Server Management Studio, SSRS.
  • Proficiency in C#
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or Information Systems, OR comparable professional experience.
  • 6+ years of experience in an MSSQL environment with strong working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2017 and later.
  • Proficient in T-SQL programming.
  • PHP experience a plus.
  • Working understanding of Microsoft Access and Microsoft VBA.
  • Familiarity in working with MySQL databases.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure a strong plus.
  • Strong working knowledge of relational database design and best practices.
