Job description

Join our team serving America s Veterans in the capital city of Mississippi and known as "The City with a Soul."

The G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center, Jackson, MS is seeking a full-time Physician - (GI Section Chief), board certified or board eligible, to join our expanding clinical practice. We are fully committed to providing top quality medical care by serving and honoring America s Veterans.

Candidate must possess MD/DO from an accredited institution, have completed residency training to board certification, and possess an active, current, unrestricted license in any U.S. State or territory.

Additional requirements:

  • Administrative oversight of the Gastroenterology Section under Specialty Care to include, but not limited to, strategic planning and performance improvement, creating monthly daytime and after hours call schedules.
  • The incumbent will also supervise trainees/fellows who are rotating on the GI service to include inpatient consults, consult review, outpatient clinics, and procedures. Incumbent will support GI advanced practice providers. Other duties may be assigned by the Deputy Associate Chief of Staff for Specialty Care, Associate Chief of Staff for Specialty Care, or designee
  • Clinical duties may include completing inpatient and outpatient consults, review/disposition of clinical and care in the community consults, GI clinics to potentially include telehealth clinics, and performing all general GI endoscopic procedures and EUS/ERCP if trained/proficient in these advanced procedures.
