Job Summary
Join Leonardo DRS Land Electronics in Huntsville, Alabama, supporting mission-critical C4I network computing, integrated situational awareness, embedded diagnostics, vehicle power management, and combat vehicle integration solutions. In this role, you'll help drive efficient, high-quality production by developing and improving manufacturing processes, enabling smooth build execution from prototype through production, and partnering closely with Operations, Quality, and Engineering teams.
What You Will Do
  • Apply basic engineering principles to perform routine design, fabrication, and/or evaluation in support of production operations
  • Manufacturing routes and work instructions for production
  • Identify and procure tools, materials, and fixturing in support of production
  • Manage maintenance repair and calibration schedules for production equipment
  • Provide Capital Asset reviews and inputs for future requirements/improvements
  • Provide written reports and support IPT meetings as needed
  • Support production and prototype proposal efforts and provide OPS team estimates
  • Support 6S activities and Continuous Process Improvement
  • Determine Root Cause and Corrective Actions for production/assembly issues
  • Read and interpret mechanical assembly drawings and/or support documentation and provide inputs for improvements
  • Work closely with Assemblers, Supervisors, Quality, and Engineering and provide training if/as needed
  • Generation of assembly deviations of product assembly, red line documentation, and engineering change requests (CRs/ECOs)
  • Develop manufacturing process plans, test requirements, manufacturing flow, and capacity plans
  • Design and build harness boards creating the prototype for manufacturing LRU harnesses
  • Review detailed designs for manufacturability and producibility.
  • Performs moderately complex functions in the process design, fabrication, modification and/or evaluation of Production operations
  • May prepare complicated plans, conduct support studies, provide analysis or tests in the development of Production operations
  • May assign work to drafters and/or technicians and provide guidance to lower-level engineers
  • Responsibilities are diverse in scope where analysis of situations or data requires sound judgment
  • General guidance given on new assignments as needed

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in an applicable engineering field with 5+ years applicable engineering experience (or equivalent combination of education/training and experience.
  • Specialties may include manufacturing, production, and industrial.
  • Experience with MES and CostPoint systems
  • Must be proficient in the assembly of complex mechanical builds utllizing drawings, routes, and work instructions
