Job description

Core Logging Geologist
Schedule: Sunday to Wednesday, 10hr days
Compensation: $35-50/ hr based on Experience
Seeking a full-time temporary Logging Geologist who will work opposite the Senior Geologist to provide continuous operational coverage. Responsibilities include managing core shed activities, coordinating core handling and processing, and supervising and mentoring junior staff.
Qualifications:
  • Must be able to properly and safely lift up to 50lbs
  • Possess a current and valid driver's license
  • Periodically work in environmental extremes (i.e. hot or cold weather)
  • Sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Knowledge of MS Word and Excel
  • Previous experience or exposure to geology, logging, and sampling
  • Must have either OSHA 10hr or MSHA certification

Main Responsibilities:
  • Detail log core in accordance with the client's requirements
  • Assist and verify core photos taken in the field
  • Data entry
  • Cleaning and handling of core
  • Mark core for sampling
  • Supervise and help core cutting technicians and student interns

Ideal Candidate:
  • Recently graduated Geology student with an interest in learning about sedimentary geology, drilling, and core practices. With previous internship experience in a core shed or exposure to d rill programs
  • OR an individual with previous experience logging core and managing or assisting in an exploration project
  • This position is located in Reno, NV. The position will report to the client's Senior Geologist and is expected to work approximately 10 hours daily, optimally on a 4 days on , 3 days off schedule. While this schedule is flexible, as it will be subject to the actual work demands, the period of employment is expected to last through January 2027, with an opportunity to extend beyond.
