POSITION TITLE: Designer - Key Accounts
TEAM: Concept Design
REPORTS TO: Director of Concept Design
FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Hourly, Non-exempt
LOCATION: Headquarters (On-Site)
ABOUT US
At the heart of Gable lies a passion that transcends the conventional. We're more than just creators of visual communications; we're experts at creating experiences. We believe that every brand, building, and place has a unique story to tell, and our mission is to elevate the way they are seen, experienced, and remembered.
We are committed to fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment where team members can thrive and contribute to our shared success.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Designer - Key Accounts supports the rollout and maintenance of signage and environmental graphic design programs for major client accounts. This role is ideal for an entry- to mid-level designer who is organized, detail-oriented, and interested in applying design to real-world spaces.
In this position, you'll apply established design drawing packages across multiple project sites, helping ensure consistency, accuracy, and quality for our account-based programs. You'll work closely with account managers, designers, and technical team members to adapt approved design standards to individual locations, maintain documentation, and support efficient project delivery.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working on visual communications in the built environment, has strong file and documentation habits, and wants to grow their knowledge of custom architectural signage and environmental graphic design.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design Concepting & Execution
  • Review design briefs and project inputs to fully understand scope, constraints, and design intent.
  • Apply established signage and environmental graphic design standards to individual project sites with consistency and attention to detail.
  • Adapt approved design elements to site-specific conditions with minimal design development or modification.
  • Support large client accounts with repeatable, standards-driven design programs across multiple locations.
  • Create and maintain design standards catalogs that organize sign types across new and evolving client programs.
  • Prepare sign location plans, message schedules & artwork, and standards-based design intent packages.
  • Ensure documentation is accurate, current, well organized, and aligned with established account standards.
  • Serve as an internal resource for understanding and applying account-specific standards and historical design decisions.
  • Continue to develop design concept and design development skills to support the Design Studio on custom design projects as needed.
Technical Design Execution and Documentation
  • Develop increasing familiarity with standard signage drawings, details, and documentation structures.
  • Assess site survey information, code requirements, existing conditions, photography and architectural base drawings to inform the design effort.
  • Integrate site, exterior and interior design elements with various project constraints and identify and recommend alternatives as needed.
  • Collaborate with the technical design team when site-specific conditions require additional detailing or technical support.
  • Develop a working knowledge of established standards, fabrication methods, technical coordination, and implementation practices.
Collaboration, Standards, and Process Support
  • Balance multiple projects and competing priorities through strong communication, organization and time management.
  • Coordinate with the account management team to collect missing project inputs such as base plans, elevations, site information, programming details, and client-provided criteria.
  • Communicate proactively when project information is incomplete, unclear, or inconsistent.
  • Perform efficient execution of repeatable design tasks across large-volume client programs.
  • Support account managers by providing "real-time" conceptual design input as needed during virtual client meetings.
  • Track updates and revisions to standards and drawing packages over time.
  • Uphold and reinforce departmental standards of practice and design best practices.
  • Review work for accuracy, quality, and scope alignment (self and other designers).
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (BD, Sales, Estimating, Client Services, Engineering, Digital, Manufacturing, and Permit/Construction Services) to support project success.
  • Identify recurring project issues, inconsistencies, or documentation gaps and communicate them to senior team members.
  • Contribute to process improvements that make repeatable account work more efficient and scalable.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Required
  • 2-4 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Strong design fundamentals and an interest in how graphic communication comes to life in physical spaces.
  • Ability to service multiple projects, files, and revisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong file management and revision tracking habits.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with account managers, designers, and technical team members.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Preferred
  • Relevant degree or work experience in Graphic Design, Visual Communication or related field preferred.
  • Experience working within established brand standards and applying them consistently across multiple deliverables.
  • Experience maintaining documentation standards, drawing libraries, or account-based design resources.
  • Basic understanding of built environment documentation and/or familiarity with architectural drawings, plans, elevations, and scaled backgrounds.
  • Technical Proficiency
  • CorelDRAW (preferred)
  • Adobe Creative Cloud (Acrobat, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word)
  • CADtools
  • Teams/Zoom and other virtual collaboration tools
  • Basic knowledge & interest in design-related AI a plus

Characteristics for Success
