Job description

The Canfield office of Roetzel & Andress is seeking a full-time Legal Assistant with a minimum of 5 years of corporate litigation exerience. Roetzel & Andress is a full-service law firm with locations across Ohio and Florida, as well as in Chicago, Detroit, Lexington and Washington, D.C. The firm provides comprehensive legal services to national and international corporations, closely held and family-fun businesses, institutions, organizations, and individuals.  
The Legal Assistant will be responsible for managing day-to-day administrative and clerical needs of the practice. The ideal candidate is an initiative-taker, highly motivated with excellent communication, organizational and computer skills. 
Primary Responsiblities
Provides administrative support to the attorneys and backup support to legal assistants in support of their specific practice group's needs and requirements. 
Key Duties/Accountabilities Include (but not limited to):
•     Transcribe/type all correspondence, produce letters, court documents (pleadings, discovery
       requests/responses, notices, subpoenas), legal forms, internal administrative forms as directed or
       required and schedule depositions/court appearances.
•     Responsible for incoming, outgoing, and internal mail of assignments.
•     Maintain orderly filing of correspondence/documents in iManage for all matters assigned to
      supervising attorneys. 
•     Assist attorney with client billings as directed.
•     Maintain updated professional schedules/calendars, court dates and deadlines of assigned
      attorneys. 
•     Manage appropriate communications with clients and professional associates on behalf of
      assigned attorneys as directed.
•     Schedule meetings via Zoom/Teams as well as conference rooms.
•     Prepare/submit attorney expense reports via ChromeRiver.
•     Complete and process miscellaneous disbursement charge records pertaining to client billings in
      accordance with established procedures.
•     Complete and process required forms for the opening of new matters and closing files as directed
      and in accordance with established procedures.
•     Assist with legal assistant overflow work from within practice group or in other practice groups
      when requested and as available.
•     Perform additional legal assistant duties required by the involvement of assigned attorneys in
      any firm administrative duties, firm committees, and community/professional associations and
      organizations.
•     Make required travel arrangements for assigned attorneys.  
Recommended Position Requirements:
•     High school graduate or equivalency required; post-secondary related education or training
      preferred with a minimum of 5 years of business and commercial litigation legal assistant
      experience.
•     Typing skills of 70+ wpm required and demonstrated ability to use MS Office.
•     Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality and perform the duties above in a timely
      and accurate manner.
•     Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to interact with employees and
      vendors.
•     Initiative-taker with strong organizational skills and attention to detail to function in a
      demanding environment.
•     Ability to work with all levels of staff in a team environment.
•     Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, electronic document management software,
      and e-Filing in state and federal courts.
•     Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and to meet time-sensitive deadlines is
      required.
•     Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work and time.
•     Customer service attitude, approach, and professionalism in dealing with internal and external 
       individuals.
•     Detail-oriented, excellent communication skills, excellent proof-reading skills and flexible.
•     Ability to follow detailed instructions, take direction, prioritize assignments and manage multiple
      projects and deadlines simultaneously.
•     Notary Public, a plus.
The candidate must also pass a background check as a condition for employment.
