Job Summary
Our client is seeking a highly motivated Junior Sales Trader to join its Institutional Equities Sales & Trading desk in New York City on a full time basis. The role supports senior sales traders in servicing global institutional clients, executing equity trades, and facilitating access to Asian markets, with a strong focus on Korean and US equities and cross-border investment opportunities. The position provides exposure to institutional client coverage, equity market structure, and global capital markets, while working closely with equity sales traders, sales team, research analysts, and operations teams.
Job Description
  • Trade Execution & Market Coverage
  • - Assist senior sales traders in executing equities for institutional clients across global markets (U.S., Canada, Europe), with emphasis on Asian equities (Koreans).
  • - Monitor real-time market activity, order flow, and liquidity across exchanges and electronic trading platforms.
  • - Communicate pricing, market color, and trade ideas to institutional clients.
  • - Ensure timely and accurate order entry and execution through internal trading systems.
  • Client Relationship Support
  • - Support coverage of hedge funds, asset managers, and institutional investors investing in Asian equities.
  • - Quick response for order routing, trade execution, and trade confirmation.
  • - Provide post-trade updates and execution summaries to clients.
  • Market Intelligence & Research
  • - Track developments in global equity markets, particularly South Korea and U.S.
  • - Distribute market commentary, research highlights, and corporate updates to clients.
  • - Assist in preparing client materials, trade recaps, and market summaries.
  • Operational & Compliance Coordination
  • - Liaise with trading, operations, compliance, and settlement teams to ensure accurate trade processing.
  • - Monitor trade allocations, confirmations, and settlement issues.
  • - Ensure compliance with U.S. regulatory requirements and internal policies.
Qualifications
  • Education
  • - Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field.
  • Experience
  • - 0?3 years of experience in sales trading, equity trading, capital markets, or brokerage operations
  • - Experience with institutional equities or Asian markets is a plus.
  • Skills
  • - Strong understanding of equity markets and trading mechanics.
  • - Excellent communication and client service skills.
  • - Ability to work in a fast-paced trading environment with strong attention to detail.
  • - Strong analytical and quantitative abilities.
  • - Proficiency in Excel and market data platforms (e.g., Bloomberg).
  • Licenses (Preferred or Required)
  • - FINRA Series 7 and Series 63 (or ability to obtain shortly after hire).
