Purpose: The Director, Aircraft Acquisition - Technical will be responsible for the performance of technical due diligence on candidate aircraft, as well as the management of aircraft delivery, modification and induction processes for newly acquired aircraft.
Responsibilities
1) Evaluate candidate aircraft
  • Review the aircraft specification; determine gaps to P121 and Avelo standards
  • Review the engines' current condition and evaluate prior shop visits
  • Identify technical, financial and commercial risks to be remedied in the transaction LOI

2) Manage the initial aircraft inspection
  • Provide go / no-go recommendation

3) Develop the aircraft Statement of Work (SOW)
  • Work closely with Engineering to identify gaps in the aircraft configuration

4) Monitor aircraft preparation for redelivery from current lessee
  • Hire the records audit team and on-site representative(s)
  • Assure a thorough and complete records audit
  • Assure the aircraft meets contracted specifications and delivery conditions

5) Monitor lessor modifications prior to delivery
6) Manage and sign-off on delivery of the aircraft to Avelo at transaction closing
7) Manage aircraft movement
  • Negotiate the necessary technical and ferry services

8) Manage post-delivery aircraft modification projects
  • Identify and contract with the MRO and paint facility
  • Identify and order the necessary parts, materials, SB kits and services required
  • Obtain the FAA certificate of airworthiness for the aircraft.

9) Manage the aircraft induction process
  • Build the aircraft records in the records system and organize them for FAA review
  • Conform the aircraft with Flight Ops, Inflight and Tech Ops
  • Present the aircraft to the FAA for conformity inspection

10) Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree/higher education preferred or equivalent industry experience
  • Strong organization, negotiation and communication skills
  • 5+ years of leadership and project management experience
  • Management experience of aircraft delivery, modification, & induction processes
  • Experience with aircraft inspections and maintenance
  • Hiring/interviewing and team development experience preferred

May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change when circumstances dictate (e.g., emergencies, changes in workload, rush jobs or technical developments).
