Position Summary...Walmart is seeking a talented Software Engineer III - Full Stack to join our innovative technology team. In this role, you will design, develop, and deploy scalable, high-performance web applications that power Walmart's digital ecosystem, serving millions of customers daily. You'll work on cutting-edge technologies, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the future of retail.
As a Software Engineer III, you will take ownership of medium-to-large features, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to architectural decisions that shape our platform. You'll work in an agile environment where innovation, collaboration, and customer obsession drive everything we do.What you'll do...Technical Development • Design, develop, test, and deploy full-stack applications using modern frameworks and technologies • Build responsive, accessible user interfaces using React, TypeScript, and modern CSS frameworks (Tailwind, HTMX) • Develop scalable backend services using Java (Spring Boot), Node.js, or Python (FastAPI) • Design and implement RESTful APIs and GraphQL endpoints to support front-end applications • Work with microservices architecture and containerized applications (Docker, Kubernetes) Data & Integration • Integrate with cloud-based databases (Azure Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) • Implement event-driven architectures using Kafka, Azure Service Bus, or similar technologies • Work with BigQuery and other data warehouses for analytics and reporting • Optimize database queries and application performance for scale Quality & Best Practices • Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code following SOLID principles and DRY practices • Implement comprehensive testing strategies (unit, integration, E2E using Jest, Playwright, JUnit) • Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members • Ensure accessibility compliance with WCAG 2.2 Level AA standards • Follow security best practices and comply with Walmart InfoSec policies Collaboration & Leadership • Work closely with Product Managers, UX Designers, and Data Scientists to deliver end-to-end features • Mentor junior engineers through pair programming, code reviews, and knowledge sharing • Participate in agile ceremonies (sprint planning, standups, retrospectives) • Contribute to technical documentation and team knowledge bases • Drive continuous improvement in development processes and engineering standards DevOps & Deployment • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins • Deploy applications to Azure cloud infrastructure (AKS, App Services, Functions) • Implement monitoring and observability using Splunk, Grafana, or Application Insights • Participate in on-call rotations and troubleshoot production issues At Walmart, we offer competitive pay as well as performance-based bonus awards and other great benefits for a happier mind, body, and wallet.
