Description
SAIC is looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to support the Space Reactor-1 (SR-1) Freedom Nuclear Power Module (NPM) Verification and Validation (V&V) efforts. SR-1 will demonstrate nuclear electric propulsion and provide a path to higher powered and longer duration Mars missions.
Supporting the SR-1 NPM Lead Systems Engineer, the selected candidate will be the technical lead for NPM V&V Planning and Execution.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensuring the system is verified and validated using the defined mission success criteria
- Defining verification methods for all requirements
- Defining and maintaining the Verification Matrix to ensure industry partner’s V&V plans align with system-level V&V
- Ensuring the NPM V&V Plan is in-line with the SR-1 Vehicle V&V Plan
- Coordinating subsystem and system level test planning for requirement closure criteria
- Validation of mission requirements and concept of operations
- Collaborating with the Integration & Test and External Interfaces technical leads
- Being the interface to the with the mission level V&V planning effort
Location:
- Work will be performed onsite at NASA GRC in Cleveland, Ohio, 5-days a week
Qualifications
Required Skills:
- Experience with verification and validation planning and execution
- Demonstrated experience in systems engineering on complex hardware
- Demonstrated experience collaborating across cross-functional teams
- Excellent communication skills
- Highly motivated and able to work independently
- Team player dedicated to the mission
Desired Skills:
- Experience with spaceflight hardware projects
- Experience working with NASA, Department of Energy, or defense/naval systems engineering processes and procedures
- INCOSE CSEP
Education/Experience:
- Completed at least a bachelor of science degree in a STEM-related major from an accredited program with the following education and experience
- Bachelors and nine (9) years or more of relevant experience
- Masters and seven (7) years or more of relevant experience
- PhD or JD and four (4) years or more of relevant experience
Target salary range: $80,001 - $120,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
