Job Overview:

The Longfellow Hotel, a 48-room boutique hotel, café, and spa, is seeking a driven Night Auditor to work overnights at our hotel.  The Longfellow Hotel is already gaining recognition as one of the most awarded hotels in the US.

Our Night Auditor will be the face and voice of our full service hotel. The Night Auditor is one of the most important roles in all hotels.  Additionally, this position will help foster the culture of The Longfellow Hotel throughout the Portland business community and will require a sense of playfulness to help rethink luxury accommodations. 

This position is well suited for individuals that have experience as a Night Auditor, have some experience in front desk daily operation, and want to continue their journey in the rooms department of a luxury hotel.  This is an excellent opportunity to be part of something special from the ground up and reshape how people experience visiting Portland.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Perform front desk responsibilities including but not limited to:
    • Check In and Check outs
    • Proper credit card handling
    • Assigning room numbers
    • Pre-arrival questions
  • Manage online and phone reservations. 
  • Able to help exceed our guests expectations.
  • Provide information about our hotel, available rooms, rates, and amenities 
  • Delivers exceptional service, which includes:
    • Anticipating guest needs and identifying key opportunities for our team to exceed the expectations of both new and repeat visitors.
    • Maintaining an awareness of local happenings that may be of interest to guests, including restaurant menus and hours, entertainment events, recreation and sporting events- as well as keeping front desk staff up to date on this information..
  • Perform basic accounting tasks
  • Ensures guest satisfaction and problem-solve when things go wrong, including conflict resolution and sound judgement.
  • Valet parking tasks.

What you bring to the table:

  • Night Audit experience preferred with some knowledge of day to day operations
  • Luxury hotel experience preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to work weekends, nights, and some holidays
  • A genuine sense of empathy and care towards others
  • Some hotel accounting skills preferred
  • Able to work overnight
  • Strong organizational skills.

This job is based in Portland Maine at our property located at 754 Congress Street. From time to time, you will be expected to travel to venues and events outside of the Portland area, as the business demands.

The Longfellow Hotel is managed by Uncommon Hospitality, a family run hospitality company based in Portland, ME.  Longfellow Hotel will become the 4th managed property in the Uncommon portfolio which also includes The Francis Hotel (Portland), The Colonial Inn and The Admiral’s Inn (both in Ogunquit).
