Position Summary
Lead, oversee and participate in the more complex and difficult work of staff responsible for school crossings; receive and disseminate information to appropriate office and/or agencies and perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility.Job descriptions are intended to present a general list of tasks/duties performed by employees within this job classification. Essential and Supplemental Functions
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential functions may include but are not limited to the functions listed below. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Supervise Crossing Guards assigned to specific area command locations.
- Lead, plan, train and review the work of staff responsible for school crossings.
- Plan, direct and participate in all aspects of work including logistics, analysis and closures of school crossings.
- Train assigned employees in their areas of work including proper traffic safety and safety techniques for crossing citizens and responsibilities for each crossing site.
- Oversee the work of Crossing Guards to ensure compliance with applicable traffic and safety protocol.
- Coordinate Crossing Guards to cover crossings that need to be operated due to personnel on leave and schools that are on lock down.
- Issue and track department property issued to Crossing Guards such as, Crossing Guard uniforms, traffic and safety equipment.
- Set-up and maintain office files and filing systems; ensure that timely documentation of a hours worked are submitted to the appropriate office.
- Conduct annual training for all Crossing Guards on best practices, cleanliness, proper crossing techniques, policy changes and additions.
- Estimate time, materials and equipment required for jobs assigned itemize and requisition materials as required.
- Arrange, schedule and confirm appointments and meetings.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
High School Diploma or GED,
and
One (1) year of supervisory experience.
Crossing Guard experience preferred.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Position requires: Background check, Pre-employment physical.
