Cloud Platform
As part of Core Engineering at Goldman Sachs, the Cloud Platform team is responsible for enabling the use of public cloud services across the firm. You will be working as part of multi-disciplinary team responsible for researching, architecting and building a cutting-edge platform that enable Goldman Sachs teams to deploy and manage services in public cloud safely and securely. We are at an early stage of modernizing our services around cloud native principles, and you will be directly contributing to platform that programmatically enforces safety, security and compliance of services and enables engineers to innovate faster.
The organization is seeking highly collaborative, creative, and intellectually curious engineers who are passionate about developing and implementing cutting-edge cloud computing solutions. The ideal candidate will thrive in a DevOps culture and contribute to customer-centric product development. They will work closely with cross-functional teams, and will be creative collaborators who evolve, adapt to change and thrive in a fast-paced global environment.
Responsibilities And Qualifications:
As part of our global Cloud Platform team you will work on various components as a Software Engineer. Your role includes specification, development, testing and releasing of new features. The team owns the platforms throughout the lifecycle. You are expected to contribute to the vision, understand our customers' needs, business goals, product roadmap and contribute to building an engineering culture within the team. We expect the successful candidate to deliver high quality software and to be passionate about software engineering. You must have a proficient understanding of software development, security and the mechanisms to design safe, resilient and highly-available cloud native services.
Key Responsibilities:
  • You are an enthusiastic software engineer with a passion for learning new technologies and driving solutions that enable deploying workloads onto public cloud
  • You have demonstrable experience of software design principles and application development, ideally using Java or Python.
  • You have working experience of one or more of the major Cloud Service Provider (AWS, GCP, Azure & OCI) services
  • You will design, build and test technical and operational management solutions of Cloud Platforms, specifically Microsoft Azure, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, AWS and Google Cloud Platform.
  • You will be familiar with Infrastructure as code (IaC) tooling such as Bicep, CDKs with Typescipt, Hashicorp Terraform and Cloud Formation.
  • You proactively manage issues and risks through the delivery lifecycle
  • Collaborate with a globally-distributed cross functional team in building customer-centric products.
  • Manage the end to end lifecycle of software components, from requirements through design, testing, development, release and demise.
  • Partner with colleagues from across Engineering to ensure an outstanding, useable, and unobtrusive experience for development teams building and deploying their applications and infrastructure.
  • Communicate and promote best practices for public cloud application development and infrastructure management across the firm.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors/Masters degree in in Computer Science or equivalent professional work experience.
  • Minimum 2+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • At least 1 years hands-on experience architecting, designing, administering, or developing management solutions for any of the main Cloud Providers: Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure or Oracle Cloud.
  • Ability to establish trusted partnerships with product leads, and executive level stakeholders
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code languages such as Terraform or Cloud Formation for managing and provisioning infrastructure.
  • Experience in leveraging Developer AI tools

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor or Advanced Degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 2+ years of work experience with one or more of the major cloud platforms, though exposure to Azure, Oracle or Google would be advantageous.
  • Hand on experience of software development, ideally using Java or Python.
  • Knowledge and experience of software development lifecycle and infrastructure-as-code tooling, such as Cloud Formation, Terraform, and AWS CDK.
  • Experience with security, isolation and multi-tenant design of distributed cloud services.
  • Familiarity with software artifact and container image lifecycle management and governance.
  • Familiarity with cloud network architectures and the integration with hybrid cloud networking.
  • Experience with Server-less platforms such as AWS Lambda, AWS Batch etc.

Salary Range
The expected base salary for this Seattle, Washington, United States-based position is $115000-$180000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
