• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for elderly clients to identify their unique emotional and psychological needs.
• Provide both individual and group counseling sessions aimed at helping seniors navigate emotional challenges related to aging, loss, and life transitions.
• Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to design and implement personalized care plans tailored for each geriatric resident.
• Educate family members, caregivers, and staff on effective communication strategies and interventions to enhance the emotional health and well-being of older adults.
• Facilitate grief and loss counseling sessions for residents and their families, supporting them through end-of-life issues with sensitivity and compassion.
• Implement cognitive stimulation programs and targeted mental health interventions to maintain or improve mental acuity and quality of life in elderly clients.

The primary focus of this role is on the geriatric population, specifically seniors experiencing mental health challenges associated with age, loss, and life transitions. The counselor will work with clients facing issues ranging from grief and anxiety to depression and adjustment disorders, all while promoting their psychological resilience and overall quality of life. This specialized approach addresses the multifaceted needs of older adults, ensuring they receive the emotional support necessary to thrive.

• A Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
• A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) designation.
• At least four years of recent experience providing mental health support specifically to the geriatric population.
• Additional training or specialization in aging-related issues and geriatric mental health is preferred.
• A deep understanding of evidence-based practices and therapeutic interventions that are effective for elderly clients.
