Position Overview

Kessler Counseling Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our team of experts in providing specialized care for the geriatric population. As a critical member of our mental health team, you will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating older adults experiencing various psychiatric conditions, such as depression, anxiety, and dementia-related disorders. This position is fully remote, allowing you to support our clients from the comfort of your home while maintaining a full-time schedule.

Work Environment

This full-time role offers a remote work setting, allowing you flexibility while fostering a strong connection with the team and the clients you serve. Our hours of operation are Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with some occasional evening shifts required based on patient needs. As part of our collaborative culture, you will engage in regular team meetings and utilize state-of-the-art electronic health record (EHR) systems to manage documentation and treatment plans efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough mental health assessments of geriatric patients to identify their specific needs, challenges, and existing support systems.
  • Develop and implement customized treatment plans that incorporate evidence-based therapeutic interventions, addressing both psychological and psychosocial factors.
  • Provide individual and family therapy, emphasizing the importance of creating a safe space for patients to share their feelings and experiences.
  • Collaborate effectively with geriatric psychiatrists and interdisciplinary team members to ensure integrated care and optimize treatment outcomes.
  • Offer crisis intervention strategies during mental health emergencies, focusing on immediate needs and safety for elderly patients.
  • Educate patients and their families about mental health disorders, available treatment options, and community resources to enhance their support network.
  • Maintain meticulous documentation in compliance with legal, ethical, and organizational standards, ensuring patient confidentiality and continuity of care.
  • Participate actively in professional development initiatives, team meetings, and case consultations to enhance skills and share knowledge with peers.
  • Keep abreast of the latest research and best practices in geriatric psychiatry to provide the highest standard of care.
Patient Population / Client Focus

This position primarily serves the geriatric population, a demographic that faces unique mental health challenges, including but not limited to cognitive decline, depression, and anxiety disorders. You will play a key role in improving the quality of life of elderly clients by employing empathetic approaches and tailored therapies that respect their individual experiences and histories.

Qualifications
  • A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution is required.
  • Must hold current, valid licensure as an LCSW, LCPC, or LMFT in the state of Nevada.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster rapport and trust with older adults and their families, employing strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in the use of electronic health record (EHR) systems and common computer applications.
Preferred Experience
  • A minimum of two years of post-licensure experience in a clinical setting is preferred, particularly in geriatric mental health.
  • Extensive knowledge of mental health disorders affecting older adults, along with a solid foundation in evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
  • Experience facilitating individual and family therapy sessions with elderly clients.

The annual salary for this position ranges from $75,000 to $100,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
