Job description

Job Overview:

We are seeking a certified AWS D1.5 & D1.3 Welder to join our team, specializing in rebar, tension cables, and sheet metal welding, including Stay-in-Place (SIP) deck pans using galvanized steel. This position involves structural and bridge construction projects, requiring strict adherence to AWS D1.5 (Bridge Welding Code) and D1.3 (Sheet Steel Welding Code) standards.

The ideal D1.5-certified welder should have experience with reinforcement steel (rebar) and post-tension cables and the ability to read and interpret blueprints. D1.3-certified welders must demonstrate proficiency in sheet metal welding but are not required to read blueprints.

Key Responsibilities:

-Perform structural welding on rebar, tension cables, SIP/deck pans, and sheet metal in compliance with AWS D1.5 and D1.3 codes.
-Weld galvanized steel SIP/deck pans using proper techniques to prevent warping or burn-through.
-(For D1.5-certified welders) Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols for precise execution.
-Utilize SMAW, FCAW, or GMAW welding processes based on project requirements.
-Inspect and repair welds to meet quality and structural integrity standards.
-Follow strict safety protocols, including PPE usage and proper ventilation when welding galvanized materials.
-Work in coordination with engineers, ironworkers, and project managers to complete welding tasks efficiently.
-Maintain and troubleshoot welding equipment to ensure optimal performance.

Qualifications & Skills:

AWS D1.5 & D1.3 Certifications - Required
Ability to read and interpret blueprints - Required for D1.5 welders (not required for D1.3 welders)
Proven experience in rebar, tension cable, SIP/deck pan, and sheet metal welding
Strong knowledge of welding codes, safety regulations, and proper techniques for galvanized steel
Proficiency in SMAW, FCAW, or GMAW welding processes
Ability to work in elevated heights, confined spaces, and varying environmental conditions
Attention to detail, safety, and quality craftsmanship
MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OLD SINCE YOU WILL NEED TO OPERATE A COMPANY VEHICLE
