Centrally located on Interstate 94 less than 25 miles northwest of Maple Grove and 30 miles southeast of Saint Cloud, Monticello is home to five brick and mortar schools and two nature-based facilities serving more than 4,000 students annually. Monticello consistently ranks in the top 50 school districts in the state as measured by a number of organizations and metrics, and performs above the state average in graduation rates, test scores, and early college opportunities.
Coach - First Robotics
Monticello High School
Monticello High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated FIRST Robotics Head Coach to lead our high school robotics program for the 2026 2027 season. This is an exciting opportunity to mentor students, foster innovation, and guide a competitive team through the nationally recognized FIRST Robotics program.
The official build season runs from January through April, during which the team designs, builds, and competes with their robot. The off-season (June through December) focuses on student training, team development, fundraising, and community outreach.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee robot design, build, and competition preparation during the season
  • Organize and coordinate off-season training, fundraising, and outreach initiatives
  • Manage team logistics, schedules, and project timelines
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative team environment

Essential Skills Required:
  • Background in technology, engineering, or a related STEM field (professional or experiential)
  • Willing and able to drive the school van/vehicle to transport students (with proper training)
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Passion for mentoring and working with diverse high school students and families
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Effective communication and teaming skills
  • Excellent attendance
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information about students

This position is compensated with an annual stipend.
