Job description

Description:

Who we are:

EDAG Inc. is a globally leading, independent engineering services provider that combines excellent engineering with the latest technology trends. We are the experts in the all-round development of complete vehicles and smart factories. Our interdisciplinary expertise in the areas of software and digitalization means that we have the crucial skills to actively shape dynamic transformation processes as an innovative partner.

Development with passion. That's us.

With an interdisciplinary team of around 9,000 experts, EDAG develops unique mobility and industrial solutions for customers that include the world's leading automotive and non-automotive companies.

This is how you will grow:

The Senior Material Handling Facilities & Equipment Engineer is responsible for the specification, procurement, and implementation of material handling equipment for an automotive assembly launch. This role owns the full facilities and equipment workstream — from defining technical requirements and developing bid packages, to managing contractors through fabrication, delivery, and installation.

The position operates at the intersection of engineering and procurement. The engineer works directly with our CapEx procurement team and material handling engineering leads, serving as the technical authority on equipment decisions and the day-to-day point of contact for suppliers and fabricators.

This is a full-time role. The position is Michigan-based with consistent on-site presence in Indiana required throughout the program. Candidates local to the Warsaw/Fort Wayne area will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Specification & Procurement

  • Develop detailed technical specifications for material handling equipment including flow rack, carts, high-bay racking, mobile equipment, and special-purpose handling devices.
  • Prepare RFQ packages and bid matrices; lead technical bid evaluations and vendor selection recommendations
  • Interface directly with CapEx procurement team on supplier selection, purchase orders, and change management
  • Conduct RFI processes and maintain vendor qualification documentation

Engineering & Technical Oversight

  • Develop 2D/3D equipment layouts in AutoCAD or equivalent; validate dimensional fit within plant layout
  • Review fabricator submittals and engineering drawings for compliance with specifications
  • Support PFEP development and maintain equipment tracking documentation

Supplier & Contractor Management

  • Manage supplier relationships from award through installation closeout
  • Coordinate fabrication schedules, factory acceptance, transportation, and on-site installation
  • Oversee installation contractors and debug activities; track punch lists through resolution

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Collaborate with material flow engineering, industrial engineering, and operations teams to ensure equipment solutions support line-side delivery strategies
  • Provide regular status reporting on scope, schedule, and risk to program leadership
Requirements:

This is how you will take us forward:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related Engineering discipline
  • 5+ years of facilities and equipment engineering experience in automotive manufacturing launch environments
  • Demonstrated experience running equipment bid processes end-to-end: spec development, RFQ, bid comparison, award, and installation oversight
  • Working knowledge of material handling equipment categories: mobile equipment, racking systems, line-side presentation devices, and tugger/dolly systems
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D; 3D exposure preferred
  • Direct experience managing fabricators and installation contractors on-site
  • Familiarity with CapEx procurement processes in an OEM or Tier 1 context is a strong plus

No Sponsorship is available at this time
