Full-Time Nursing Faculty (Evening)
Job Summary
This is a full-time, nine-month faculty position in the Nursing program with a primary focus on second-year students in a variety of courses including maternal health, pediatrics, mental health, and advanced med-surg. The faculty member will support student learning and progression by fostering clinical judgment, professional behaviors, and readiness for practice.
The faculty member will work closely with a single cohort of students throughout the year, building strong, supportive relationships that promote confidence, accountability, and professional growth. Through consistent engagement, the faculty member will play a key role in preparing students for graduation and supporting their successful transition into their first nursing roles. This role requires regular evening and weekend work as the primary schedule. Daytime commitments are limited and occur only as needed for meetings, events, or specific program requirements. Instruction is delivered primarily in face-to-face classroom, clinical, and lab settings, and on-campus presence is required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to effectively manage courses, clinical rotations, and student support.
  • Ability to collaborate with faculty, clinical partners, and administration to support program outcomes, accreditation standards, and student success.
  • Knowledge of current nursing practices, clinical standards, and patient safety principles, with the ability to integrate them into classroom, lab, and clinical instruction.
  • Ability to supervise and evaluate students in clinical and simulation settings, ensuring safe, ethical, and competent nursing practice.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development in nursing practice, education strategies, and evidence-based teaching.

Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree or higher in nursing (Candidates who will graduate with a Master's degree in nursing within a year of starting this position may still apply)
  • Equivalent of two (2) years' full-time work in clinical practice
  • Current license as an RN in Illinois
  • CPR certified and current immunizations as required by clinical agencies
  • Two (2) years of teaching or training experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills and positive energy regarding professional education
  • Established ability to work effectively as a team member
  • Demonstrated skills in effective communication in English, both spoken and written

Preferred Qualifications
  • One (1) year full-time work in maternal health, pediatrics, or advanced med-surg
  • Teaching experience at a community college
  • Experience with electronic medical records
  • Familiarity with high and low fidelity simulations to enhance student learning

Physical Demands
  • Ability to stand and lecture for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform tasks associated with laboratory and clinical instructional activities.
  • Ability to work primarily evening and weekend hours, with on-campus presence required; limited daytime availability may be needed for meetings, events, or program requirements.
