Job Description:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Director, Data Management will be responsible for establishing and maintaining data management service capabilities for the organization. Specific duties will include the following:
Developing and implementing adequate systems and procedures to ensure adherence to company quality standards and cGCP compliance as well as efficient day-to-day operations that meet the service needs of the business and its clients.
Recruiting and supervising personnel as appropriate to meet the service obligations of the department. This may include all levels of departmental management from Manager to Associate Manager as well as non-managerial staff for Data Management department.
Ensuring compliance with established systems and procedures through the development and maintenance of adequate training programs for Data Management personnel and external contractors.
In conjunction with the CEO and Business Development, helping to identify and groom potential opportunities for business in Data Management arena. As new client relationships are established and service proposals requested, outlining the resource needs and estimating the cost of services with Business Development.
In conjunction with Project Management, the CEO and Business Development, helping to identify, track, and prepare contract amendments, cost of additional services, and communications to continue to ensure optimal client relationships.
In conjunction with the other functional areas as appropriate, outlining the operational strategy for each new project with specific emphasis on translating business and client objectives into a working plan for data management studies.
Deploying resources, as necessary, for each new project and ensuring that business and client objectives have been properly communicated to key personnel.
Providing oversight and support to Data Management personnel to ensure their ability to meet business and client objectives through efficient completion of the tasks delegated to them.
Coordinating all Data Management activities, resolving resource conflicts, and providing status reports as required.
Interfacing with other functional areas to proactively identify and, if possible, resolve issues or delays that could impact timely clinical study completion.
Ensure profitability across Data Management department including budget management, expense management, direct labor utilization, process and technology efficiencies, resource management, labor rate to bill rate multiples, and overall performance management.
REQUISITE SKILLS:
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills with ability to multi-task.
Demonstrated ability to effectively procure, manage, and control project resources. Project management training and applied experience is preferred. .
Demonstrated ability to accurately identify and resolve problems.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with representatives from a broad range of scientific disciplines.
Solid understanding of the drug development process.
Working knowledge of federal regulatory requirements and guidelines for Good Clinical Practice.
Demonstrated expertise with PCs and standard Microsoft Office and project management software applications.
Demonstrated expertise in multiple software applications applicable to Data Management services.
Demonstrated expertise in leading and supervising management level personnel and in providing guidance and mentoring with respect to managerial skills and competencies.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline. Graduate degree preferred.
Minimum of fifteen (15) years experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry including at least 5 years in a directorial position.
Demonstrated history of responsibility for directing data management department.
