Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a full-time Electronics Engineer where you will work as a GNC Hardware Development Tech Lead on the development of a sophisticated state-of-the-art avionics product in a world class Integrated Product Development environment.
Location: This position does not support teleworking; the selected candidate will be located near our Lockheed Martin Space facility in Sunnyvale CA and will be working a flexible 9x80 schedule in the office full-time.

What does this role look like?
As the THAAD Guidance Navigation and Control Hardware Development Technical Lead, you will provide technical oversight to ensure all GNC Electronics hardware development activities proceed smoothly across several key suppliers. The missile GNC product portfolio you will oversee includes infrared seeker systems, digital signal processing and control systems, inertial measurement systems, and electromechanical control actuation systems. You will provide expert guidance and technical leadership to our experienced product Certified Principal Engineers to collaboratively resolve the thorniest technical problems impacting development.
Key activities you will accomplish in this role:
• Serve as a technical lead, responsible for overseeing design and development of THAAD Missile Guidance Navigation and Control products
• Requirements/concept development
• Facilitating Formal Design Reviews
• Development testing and Hardware Qualification
• Discrepancy resolution and technical troubleshooting of complex electronic systems
• Support to producibility, affordability, performance enhancing, and obsolescence-driven re-designs.
To be effective in this role, you will need:
• Experience in electronics design, including FPGAs, CCAs or PWBs.
• Experience as a Responsible Product Engineer, Certified Principal Engineer, or equivalent Technical Lead capacity for an Electrical package.
• 8+ years professional experience
• Must have an active DoD Interim Secret or higher clearance, thus you are a US Citizen.

Researches, designs, develops, and tests a variety of electronic equipment and systems, including radar and radiation detection equipment; radio, television and other communications equipment and systems; circuitry components; analog and digital computers; and control and test equipment.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor of Science or higher from an accredited college in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education.
• Demonstrated experience working with external vendors as well as diverse internal stakeholders.
• Experience with high-reliability electronics throughout the product lifecycle, particularly high rate production and post-production support.
• Previous or current Product/Hardware Engineer or equivalent experience.
• Previous or current technical leadership experience.
• Must have an active DoD Interim Secret or higher clearance, thus you are a US Citizen.
Desired Skills
• Experience or willingness to lead teams through challenging engineering and/or programmatic issues.
• Demonstrated experience with design and/or analysis of PCB/PWB, Circuit Card Assemblies (CCA) or Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA).
• Strong communication skills, and experience presenting to peers, leadership, and/or customers.
• Comprehensive and authoritative understanding of missile, launch vehicle or spacecraft systems.
• Adaptable to new situations and demonstrate self-initiative in solving complex problems.
• Experienced at conducting failure analysis on Electronics (CCA, Unit, and System Level).
• Experience with Guidance, Navigation or Control System Hardware.
• Design experience using any of the major tools such as; Mentor, Cadence, Altium, or Zuken.
• Ability to review PCB and Assembly Drawings compliance with Drafting Standards, Geometric Tolerancing, and change management release packages.
• Technical experience in full life cycle development of hardware including design, integration, and test.
• Experience as responsible product engineer (e.g. CPE, RSE, SME).
• Experience in modeling and analysis tools such as OrCAD, PSPICE, and/or Saber.
• Proven understanding of electronics standards and processes.
• Demonstrated strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
• DoD Secret or higher level clearance.
• Willingness to stretch learn new technical domains (e.g. thermal, chemical, structures, systems).
• Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $161300.00 - $299500.00

  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
