Full Time Instructor- VOCN Program- Full Time
The Blinn College District is searching for a Full Time Instructor- VOCN Program- Full Time at our Brenham Campus.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities are listed below:
Job Summary
The Vocational Nursing Program is seeking qualified individuals to teach theory, clinical and/or laboratory courses.
Within the guidelines of the Texas Board of Nursing and Blinn College, the faculty shall understand and be willing to promote and support the mission and goals of Blinn College and the Vocational Nursing Program. The faculty shall perform administrative duties, classroom/laboratory instruction, and other duties as assigned. The faculty will consist of a registered nurse who has graduated from an accredited program and is in "good standing" with the Texas Board of Nursing.
Principal Accountabilities
  1. Perform classroom instruction using various methods and strategies including, but not limited to, the use of lectures/discussion, demonstration/performance, multi-media presentations, on-line, and web-enhanced instruction.
  2. Evaluation of students in areas of psychomotor, cognitive and affective domains.
  3. Faculty is responsible for maintaining accurate student records in accordance to program and college policies.
  4. Maintenance of evaluations in clinical and classroom laboratory for nursing skills, attendance records, incidence/counseling records, and grade entries.
  5. Create, develop and revise course materials and maintain assessment on course outcomes.
  6. Supervise clinical competency based on the nursing clinical evaluation tool set forth by the Texas Board of Nursing.
  7. Establishes and maintains a liaison between the clinical site, students, and faculty.
  8. Understands, adheres, and maintains current knowledge of the program's policies and procedures.
  9. Becomes familiar with the Texas Administrative Code, Rule 214 for VOCN Programs.
  10. Maintains current knowledge of the profession by participating in continuing education for enhancement of instructional and practical skills.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications/ Required Degree, License or Certifications:
Current and unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Texas.
Minimum Competencies:
1. Must have been actively employed in nursing for the past three (3) years or have advanced preparation in nursing, nursing education, and/or nursing administration. Must have three (3) years of varied nursing experience since graduation.
2. Must be able to stand and walk extended amounts of time in clinicals, labs, and when teaching.
Preferred Qualifications:
Registered Nurse
Preferred Competencies: Prior teaching experience.
Knowledge of the vocational nursing curriculum and instructional methodology and techniques; Knowledge of the Texas administrative code part 11, chapter 214, Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and the Guidelines for Instructional Programs in Workforce Education.
Special Notes To Applicants1. This position is located on the Brenham Campus and is a Monday-Friday position that does not allow remote work. Must be on campus/clinicals 40 hours per week.
2. Acceptance does not guarantee the applicant will receive a specified semester course or be utilized to teach specified sections.
3. All selected applicants are required to furnish official transcripts of all college work as soon as possible after hire.
4. All selected applicants must complete a background check, drug screening, CPR certification, and required immunizations.
5. A short teaching demonstration will be required if applicant is selected for an interview.
Transcripts (unofficial accepted for application review; official transcripts required upon hire) All transcripts from institutions outside of the United States must be accompanied by a detailed course-by-course evaluation from a certified credential agency. Official transcripts will be required.
