ANNOUNCMENT OF POSITION VACANCYABOUT THIS POSITIONSummary:The Davis School of Business at Colorado Mesa University is seeking candidates for the rank of Visiting Instructor of Economics with their primary focus in high-quality instruction.
Colorado Mesa University (CMU) is a state-funded institution that emphasizes quality teaching and research, having embraced the teacher-scholar model. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester; courses are delivered on-campus, online, and in hybrid format, though our main focus is on in-person learning on a dynamic residential campus. The instructor in this one-year position will teach mostly in-person courses at our Grand Junction campus. In addition to teaching, maintaining currency and relevance within your discipline is expected.
This one-year position is full-time, non-tenure-track starting August 2026.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Teach four classes per semester in a variety of undergraduate courses such as Principles of Macroeconomics and Principles of Microeconomics and potentially upper division Microeconomics courses.
Candidates may come from diverse backgrounds, with a range of experiences, achievements, and leadership roles, either within or outside academia. Candidates with industry, business, or corporate experience relevant to economics are encouraged to apply.
Salary: $75,000-$90,000

Minimum Qualifications Required:- A Master's degree in Economics, or a closely related field with at least 18 economics credit hours at the graduate level and significant work experience in economics.
- Demonstrated potential for exceptional teaching performance.
- Commitment to best practices in instruction and student advising/mentoring.
- Demonstrated dedication to maintaining currency relevant to economics and business.
- Demonstrated potential for active involvement in institutional, community, and/or professional activities.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience teaching college-level economics courses beyond student teaching
- Five or more years of economics/business industry experience is strongly preferred given our hands-on, application-oriented approach in the classroom.
