Construction Traffic Control Project Manager โ€“ Drive Safety, Compliance, and Execution for Road and Bridge Infrastructure


Job Overview

  • Salary/Pay Rate: $75,000 - $90,000 plus bonus potential.

The Opportunity

You will serve as a critical project leader, driving the successful execution of municipal and utility construction projects across New York State. This role blends rigorous office planning with hands-on field oversight, giving you the autonomy to manage multi-site traffic control scopes while backed by the strength of the national Helix Traffic Solutions network. You will collaborate closely with contractors, foremen, and municipal authorities to ensure every work zone remains safe, efficient, and fully compliant.


How You Will Make an Impact

  • Review, interpret, and assist with the development and modification of Maintenance of Traffic (MPT) plans in strict accordance with MUTCD standards and municipal requirements.
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates for traffic control scopes, including labor, materials, equipment, and project durations based on project specifications.
  • Manage multiple assigned infrastructure projects simultaneously, overseeing on-site traffic control installations to ensure safe and efficient execution.
  • Direct day-to-day project workflows by coordinating closely with project foremen, prime contractors, and subcontractors on-site.
  • Review RFIs, change requests, and plan revisions, providing timely responses and assessing their impact on cost, schedule, and scope.
  • Maintain strict project schedules and budgets while ensuring compliance with all contract, EBO, and municipal requirements.
  • Negotiate and prepare agreements, bid packages, and contract documents for the successful execution of work.
  • Assist with ordering, scheduling, and tracking critical materials and equipment needed to complete traffic control operations.
  • Manage business license renewals, contract files, insurance tracking lists, and required DOT permits (including CCA and Thruway permits).
  • Complete comprehensive project closeout paperwork and prepare correspondence confirming the achievement of all client and regulatory goals.


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience as a project manager within a construction-related field.
  • Proven leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to professionally resolve on-site technical and logistical issues in a timely manner.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid New York State (NYS) Driverโ€™s License.


Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Prior project management or field experience specifically within road and bridge construction.
  • Advanced proficiency in reading and interpreting detailed construction plans, structural drawings, and MPT schematics.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing compliance for state DOT or local municipal authorities.
