Job description

For over 20 years, Smartsheet has empowered teams to manage work seamlessly and scale solutions smarter. Now, in our most ambitious chapter yet, we are uniting human teams with AI agents. By orchestrating the work agents do best, automating manual tasks and uncovering insights at scale, we create the space for people to focus on what truly matters: judgment, creativity, and big thinking. That is magic at work, and it's what we show up for every day.
At Smartsheet, our mission is to empower anyone to drive meaningful change. We're hiring a Manager of UX Research to join our world class UX Research team. Researchers at Smartsheet come from a diverse range of traditional and non-traditional backgrounds. We apply a wide range of research methodologies, HCD practices, and a deep understanding of our customers to create efficient, powerful, and intuitive user experiences that drive business results. On the UX team, you'll help shape the future of work.
About UX Research And The Role
As Manager of UX Research, you'll lead research for one of Smartsheet's core product areas, uncovering customer insights that drive product decisions and measurable business impact. You will own the research roadmap for your area, run studies hands on, and guide a small team of researchers as they do the same. You'll partner closely with Product and Design leaders to make sure the customer's needs show up in what we build and how we prioritize.
You will report to our Director, UX Research. This role is fully remote and open to candidates anywhere in the US where Smartsheet is a registered employer.
You will
  • Own the research roadmap for your product area, identifying the opportunities with the highest potential for customer and business impact.
  • Manage and mentor a small team of researchers, supporting their growth and the quality of their work.
  • Lead research planning and execution end to end, building alignment with cross-functional peers and stakeholders throughout the process.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering partners to align research priorities with business goals.
  • Synthesize research with other sources of data, such as product analytics and competitive intelligence, to surface patterns and opportunities and tie product levers to business results.
  • Translate complex findings into clear narratives and actionable recommendations, and present them to stakeholders at all levels, including senior leaders.
  • Contribute to scalable research practices and infrastructure that advance Smartsheet's UX maturity, including sourcing vendors to augment your team.

You Have
  • 7+ years of UX research experience on digital products, with a proven track record of insights that led to measurable product improvements.
  • Experience managing or mentoring researchers, with a record of growing people and elevating work beyond your own.
  • Expertise in quantitative and qualitative methods, paired with the judgment to know when to use which.
  • Experience conducting complex research at scale.
  • A track record of driving alignment with cross-functional partners around user needs and bringing peers into the research process.
  • Proven ability to present research to executive audiences and influence the decisions that follow.
  • Experience with B2B products that support business productivity, project management, or processes.

Current US Perks & Benefits:
  • Employer subsidized medical/vision and dental coverage for full-time employees
  • 401k Match to help you save for your future (50% of your contribution up to the first 6% of your eligible pay)
  • Monthly stipend to support your work and productivity
  • Flexible Time Away Program, plus Sick Time Off
  • US employees are automatically covered under Smartsheet-sponsored life insurance, short-term, and long-term disability plans
  • US employees receive 12 paid holidays per year
  • Up to 24 weeks of Parental Leave
  • Personal paid Volunteer Day to support our community
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development including access to Udemy online courses
  • Company Funded Perks, including a counseling membership, local retail discounts, and your own personal Smartsheet account
  • Teleworking options from any registered location in the U.S. (role specific)

Smartsheet provides a competitive base salary range for roles that may be hired in different geographic areas we are licensed to operate our business from. Actual compensation is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, level of professional, educational experience, skills, and specific candidate location.
