Do pilots make $400 an hour?

Full Time Demo Pilots, especially those flying for aerospace companies or aircraft manufacturers, can earn hourly rates around $200 to $400 or more, depending on experience, aircraft type, and flight hours. However, salaries vary widely based on the employer, location, and specific role, and many pilots are paid annually rather than hourly. High-demand specialized pilots with extensive experience may reach or exceed this rate in certain industries.

Can I train to be a pilot with a full-time job?

Full-time demo pilots can often train while working, but it depends on the company's training schedule and your availability. Many pilots pursue part-time training or evening classes to balance work and certification requirements, which include flight hours and ground school. Planning and time management are essential to successfully train while maintaining full-time employment.

What pilots make $500,000 a year?

Full Time Demo Pilots, especially those working for major aerospace or defense companies, can earn salaries approaching or exceeding $500,000 annually, often including bonuses and profit sharing. Such high earnings typically require extensive experience, specialized skills, and certifications, and may involve flying high-value aircraft or conducting complex demonstrations.

How much do demo pilots make?

Demo pilots typically earn between $50,000 and $100,000 annually, depending on experience, location, and the complexity of the aircraft they operate. Compensation may include base salary, flight hours, and performance bonuses, with some pilots earning additional benefits based on their certifications and flight hours.

Job description

About Crimson
Crimson Education is the world's leading college admissions consulting firm, with over 1,490 Ivy League offers and 2,410 to the US Top 15. We help ambitious students gain admission to the world's top universities through expert-led guidance and proven, data-driven strategies. Crimson students are 7x more likely to get into the Ivy League than their peers. We were recently featured on the front page of the Wall Street Journal.
We're the only college admissions consultancy that brings together:
  • Former Ivy League and Top 20 admissions officers to rigorously review and refine applications
  • Professors and PhD teaching fellows from leading universities to guide students through original, independent research - with pathways to selective peer-reviewed publication or conference presentation
  • Past ISEF winners and judges who coach students to compete for state, national, and international science fair awards
  • Capstone project mentors who help students design and scale leadership initiatives with real-world impact, measurable outcomes, and credible external validation

We're backed by leading VC firms, including Tiger Global, Heal Partners, IceHouse Ventures, and Movac, and recently closed a USD $40M Series D funding round at a USD $640M valuation. We now operate across 21 markets worldwide, including the US, Canada, UK, Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand.
What are the main responsibilities for this role?
• Define and maintain a clear GTM roadmap aligned to product phases (MVP workflow first, advanced assistance later)
• Build repeatable pilot-to-contract motion: selection criteria, onboarding, success plans, reporting, expansion
• Produce and iterate a "demo-first" narrative (live demos, recorded walkthroughs, decks)
• Partner with Product to translate counselor feedback into:
- must-have launch requirements
- nice-to-have enhancements
- risk flags (data sensitivity, compliance concerns, trust/perception issues)
• Track and report GTM metrics (pipeline, conversion, activation, time-to-value, retention)
• Support competitive analysis and differentiation across platforms in the counselor workflow space
What skills and experience are required?
• 6+ years in GTM / Growth / Partnerships / Product Marketing / Sales Enablement for B2B or B2B2C products
• Proven experience taking a new product from pilot to scaled rollout
• Strong ability to translate complex workflows into simple, credible value propositions
• Comfortable working cross-functionally with Product + Engineering (requirements, tradeoffs, launch readiness)
• Excellent stakeholder management and written communication (US-market polish preferred)
Strong Plus (Highly Preferred)
• Deep familiarity with the US school counseling ecosystem (school counselors, college counseling offices, independent counselors)
• Experience with admissions tooling, student information workflows, or education administration software
• Experience selling into schools/institutions (procurement, stakeholder mapping, long sales cycles)
• Experience running webinars/events/community-led GTM in education
Why work for Crimson?
  • Rapidly growing start up, with a flexible working environment where you will be empowered to structure how you work
  • Limitless development and exposure - our internal promotions/role changes made up 33% of all recruitment last year
  • $1000 individual training budget per year, we love to 'Level Up' (it's one of our core values)!
  • Psychologist on staff
  • Insightful fireside chats and workshops to help support our high-performing and ambitious team
  • Radical Candor is a feedback approach we live by
  • We're a global player with 28 markets (and growing) across the globe. Most roles have the option to work from one of our many offices or remotely!

If you're passionate about growing in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and want to work with cutting-edge technology, then we'd love to hear from you!
