The Greeter serves as liaison between patient and hospital staff. Assist patients in interpreting hospital policies, procedures, and services, and in obtaining solutions to problems and concerns. Assist manager in gaining awareness of patient's perceptions of the hospital experience.
Responsibilities
A day in the life of a Greeter at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
  • Acts as Liaison: Acts as liaison between patient and staff personnel on issues of care and communication. Provide appropriate avenues through which information may be obtained and concerns may be voiced regarding rights, care, and service.
  • Data Collection & Reporting: Completes patient call-backs on non-clinical level to ascertain patient satisfaction of prior visits. Assists the department with data collection and reporting as designated by Nurse Manager.
  • Goals and Objectives: Assist Manager in developing and updating goals and objectives for Emergency Services (Prompt Care and ED). Reviews and provides input on goals, policies and procedures as needed.
  • Hospital Committees: Participates in hospital committees as requested. Actively participates in Department/Hospital committees each year.
  • Information: Provide information and support to patients/families/visitor in role as Emergency Department Greeter. Greets patient and their family members upon entrance to emergency department. Instructs/assists patients to sign-in triage book. Directs patients/families to registration, Prompt Care, etc. as directed by ED staff. Answers questions regarding ED procedures. Monitors flow in ED waiting room and ED entrances. Maintains open dialogue with all ED staff.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
