Job description

G&H Marine Inc. – Welder / Marine Fabrication Technician

G&H Marine Inc. specializes in floating docks, aluminum and permanent docks, boathouses, seawalls, rip-rap, swim platforms, marina design, and commercial waterfront structures. For over 30 years, we’ve been delivering exceptional workmanship using only top-quality materials with a commitment to customer satisfaction.
Location: Decatur, IL (projects throughout Illinois & surrounding states)
Position: Welder – Marine Construction

Type: Full-time
Schedule: Monday–Friday
Team Environment: Work alongside skilled welders, craftsmen, installers, and foremen
Responsibilities

  • Weld steel components for docks, boat lifts, and other marine structures
  • Assist in fabrication and assembly of custom dock sections, frames, and parts
  • Perform SMAW (7018 rod) welding with precision and attention to quality
  • Load, unload, and handle materials (lumber, aluminum, steel, hardware)
  • Operate power tools, grinders, and job site equipment safely
  • Follow blueprints or supervisor instructions to complete welding tasks
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Support service and repair work as needed
  • Always follow safety protocols and foreman direction
Requirements

  • Reliable, everyday attendance is a must
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Travel is a must – job sites vary across the region
  • Welding experience required (aluminum and steel preferred)
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to work near/over/in water and follow all safety procedures
  • Construction or marine fabrication experience a plus
  • Welding certifications preferred (but not required)
  • Forklift certification
  • Positive attitude and attention to detail
