Northrop Grumman's Corporate Sector's Chief Information & Digital Office (CIDO) is seeking a Network Engineer / Principal Network Engineer to join its Network Communications and Visibility (NCV) team in Magna, Utah; please note that the candidate selected for this position will be required to work on-site, full-time at our Magna Utah campus - this is not a remote work opportunity.

Additionally, the role will involve enterprise-wide responsibilities across the Northrop Grumman network footprint. The successful candidate will design, implement, and maintain high availability network infrastructure, work directly with customers and vendors, and contribute to continuous improvement of our secure communications environment.

Information Technology (IT) refers to an extensive collection of data storage devices like servers and software, network hardware such as cables and switches, and communication devices and protocols. IT networks and IT devices work together to store, control, and deliver information, typically handling data for business applications.

The role of the Network Engineer is to troubleshoot problems, identify solutions, and perform routine administration to ensure reliable network connectivity for the enterprise.

Position Overview - Network Engineer (T02)

Seeking a network engineer to provide on-site network support in Magna Utah. A successful candidate will work with a team in supporting the LAN/WAN. We are looking for a highly motivated, self-driven individual with experience in networking.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to clients, respond to their request promptly and resolve network issues.

  • Proficient knowledge with Cisco routers and switches.

  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP related protocols, Dynamic Routing Protocols, Switching technologies and features

  • Maintains in-depth up-to-date knowledge of standards, guidelines, industry trends, etc., for the Networking discipline, including LAN, WAN, Wireless, interconnection.

  • Plans, designs, configures, and installs network hardware in support of customer requirements.

  • Ability to successfully solve network related problems reported by users.

  • Ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment with changing priorities.

  • Creates and ensures that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions.

  • Provides regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in-house systems.

  • Occasionally travel to other NG sites as needed.

  • Periodically provide after-hours and weekend support.

  • Interface regularly with customers and manage customer installation timelines and deliverables to help facilitate successful deployments.

  • Experience in the use of network analysis tools (i.e. WireShark, Opnet, SolarWinds, etc.)

  • Skilled with Microsoft Office 365 applications and Visio.

  • Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.

  • Ability to work after hours and weekends as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree with 4 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree with 2 years of relevant experience, a High School Diploma or equivalent with 6 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a completed degree.

  • Candidates must have the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Secret level security clearance as a condition of continued employment.

  • Experience with Cisco hardware and setting up switched networks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cisco CCNA or CCNP

  • Experience with managed network solutions and large-scale technical network engineering project experience.

  • Experience with Cisco Router and Switch equipment, Firewall Cisco Network Equipment, Cisco Wireless Technology, and Cellular Technology.

  • A strong knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol, Cisco Router and Switch products.

  • Knowledge and experience with LAN/WAN protocols and technologies such as multicast, QoS, CoS & OSPF.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Services such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cisco CCNA or CCNP

  • Experience with SDWAN methodologies/equipment a plus.

  • Experience leading enterprise projects for large networks.

  • Experience in designing network solutions.

  • Experience leading network implementation projects.

  • Project Management certification.

  • Experience using test equipment such as the Network Associates Sniffer, cable and fiber optics test sets, and other protocol analyzers.

  • A strong knowledge of Cisco and Palo Alto Firewalls.

Primary Level Salary Range: $72,100.00 - $108,100.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $134,200.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
