JOB TITLE: CNC Applications Engineer
COMPENSATION
$85,000- $90,000 annually
LOCATION
On-site in Ontario, NY
EMPLOYMENT TYPE
Full-Time Exempt
Exempt employees are expected to work a minimum of 40 hours per workweek and such additional hours as necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of their position and meet business and operational demands.
The standard workweek is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
POSITION SUMMARY
The CNC Applications Engineer is responsible for developing new products and programs that will generate future growth for the organization and supporting the existing manufacturing processes within the production environment. They will be required to operate, troubleshoot, and program the existing OptiPro machines that are used in production. They must be open to learning the OptiPro platform to develop a deep technical understanding of the current machine platforms.
The CNC Applications Engineer will collaborate with a dynamic team to learn and grow the production area within OptiPro Systems. In addition, they will also support the Sales and Customer Service team through training (either On Site or travelling to a customer) to enable machine sales and customer satisfaction with existing customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide technical support to the production team on various production jobs within the department, effectively problem-solving issues that arise during production runs.
  • Implement process efficiencies for current production parts.
  • Develop quotes for new customer inquiries and be able to run prototype parts that will lead to production parts in the future.
  • Support both the Sales team and Customer service team with technical input to quote jobs that are new, customer training on the machine base, and technical problem solving with customer issues.
  • Travel to customers for training and troubleshooting.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION amp; EXPERIENCE
  • AS or BS in engineering or related field
  • Candidate must have minimum of 5 years of experience with hands on CNC machining and is willing to continue to leverage that experience.
  • Mastercam programming is a preferred skill or the ability to learn Mastercam with a team of experienced engineers
  • Experience with programming Fagor controls and software logic is desired.
  • Experience and knowledge with 5 Axis machine kinetics.
  • Machining experience with ceramics, and other exotic brittle materials is preferred. These materials are machined within micron level tolerancing
REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Able to interpret customer supplied engineering drawings and develop programs to enable successful execution of making the part.
  • Work both in Metric and English conversions and adjust accordingly.
  • Willing to develop processes through a structured approach to guiding what the technicians should be gathering data to develop new processes.
  • Professional and positive approach, self-motivated, strong in building relationships, collaborator, dynamic, creative with the ability to work on own initiative.
  • Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Renishaw probing systems and programming logic
