Description: Performs semiskilled work in the transportation of pupils to and from school and special events, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Director of Transportation.
Qualifications: High school education preferred and minimal experience operating automotive equipment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements: Applicants applying for this position must be at least 21 years of age; Possession of an appropriate commercial driver's license valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia. (CDL training may be provided; applicants with a CDL with S and P endorsements are preferred.)
Physical Requirements: This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and reaching with hands and arms and occasionally requires pushing or pulling, lifting and repetitive motions; work requires close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color perception and peripheral vision; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, using of measuring devices, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires exposure to extreme cold (non-weather), exposure to extreme heat (non-weather) and exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment; work is generally in a loud noise location (e.g. grounds maintenance, heavy traffic).
