Requirements
About the Role
We are seeking a Building Envelope / Architectural Consultant to provide technically sound solutions for existing building envelope failures and to support new construction and rehabilitation projects. This role works closely with property owners, developers, and contractor clients on a wide range of commercial and residential projects, balancing technical expertise with client-facing collaboration.
What You'll Do
• Design upgrades, maintenance, and restoration solutions for existing structures, as well as support new construction projects.
• Investigate and repair failed building envelope systems; perform condition assessments and failure investigations.
• Conduct constructability reviews and third-party peer reviews of plans and specifications.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring quality control and meeting budgets, scopes, and deadlines.
• Prepare technical reports, repair designs, bid documents, addenda, and construction documentation.
• Research building histories and applicable historical and current building codes.
• Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships.
What You Bring
• Strong knowledge of commercial and residential building envelope systems and material selection.
• Experience designing glazing, cladding, insulation, air barriers, roofing, and waterproofing systems.
• Ability to develop construction details and specifications using building codes and ADA requirements.
• Proven skills in assessing and evaluating building performance.
• Excellent written communication and report-writing skills.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Structural Engineering.
• 3+ years of experience in building envelope design, investigation, construction documentation, and/or project management.
• Registered Architect (RA) or Professional Engineer (PE) preferred, but not required.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit.
• Ability to travel approximately 10%, including occasional out-of-state assignments.
The Salary Range for this position is $83,000 - $124,000 and is dependent on education, experience, location and certifications/licensure.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS, OVERTIME, AND TRAVEL
Physical Demands - Work will be performed both in an office setting and at outside locations (i.e., Client's office, industrial, construction, and/or residential sites). Employee is frequently required to stand, sit, climb ladders, bend, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and drive a motor vehicle to job sites. Employee may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Employee must be attentive, focused, and alert when conducting site inspections, speaking, and interacting with clients, preparing drawings and written reports. Clear vision and depth perception are also necessary.
Overtime - This position is classified as salaried with an exempt FLSA status. Regular working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with one hour for lunch. There will be periods where overtime will be required, which the employee will need to comply with in order to meet the demands of the position.
