Position Purpose:

  • In accordance with the Mission and Guiding Behaviors; the Boiler Operator operates boiler, steam plant, associated systems and equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Performs repairs and preventative maintenance as assigned or required.

What You Will Do:

  • Education: High school graduate or equivalency. Technical training and mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Experience: Experienced in blueprint reading and knowledge of commercial plumbing codes. Minimum five years experience operating boilers.
  • Effective Communication Skills
  • Physical demands including working in 100+ degree environments, lifting objects up to 100 pounds, and work at heights of 20 feet or more from ladders.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Responsible for maintaining all areas of his zone. Coordinates with other staff and agencies to assure compliance with local codes, guidelines, and informs supervisor of any problems.
  • Responsible for maintaining boilers associated equipment.
  • Responsible to maintain steam systems with in federal, state and local guide lines and with the standards established by the JCAHO and the NFPA and informs manager of any non-compliance
  • Make rounds and equipment checks as required.
  • Inspects and determines the repair and maintenance necessary to prevent breakdowns and major overhauls of the steam supply and distribution systems.
