Job description

Senior Data & Analytics Architect

Hybrid (Bogota, Sao Paulo, or Ciudad de Mexico) Full-time Data & Analytics

About this opportunity

This is a partner position: you would not be joining Blue Coding directly, but rather one of our trusted partner companies, PayJoy. Blue Coding is managing the hiring process on their behalf, connecting them with excellent talent across Latin America, but your day-to-day work, team, and reporting line would sit entirely within PayJoy.

PayJoy is looking for a Senior Data & Analytics Architect to serve as a key technical authority within their Global Metrics team, helping define the architecture, standards, and analytical foundations that support Customer Support operations globally. This is a senior individual contributor and technical leadership role, with no direct people-management responsibilities.

You would be responsible for defining and evolving the end-to-end data architecture across PayJoy's Global Customer Support ecosystem, including data ingestion patterns, Medallion Architecture (Bronze / Silver / Gold), dimensional modeling, semantic layers, KPI frameworks, data governance, and analytical standards - working closely with the Global Metrics Senior Manager, Engineering, Business Analytics, and Data Platform teams.

This role is hybrid, based in Bogota, Sao Paulo, or Ciudad de Mexico, and you would join PayJoy's engineering team directly as a full-time employee, gaining valuable international experience. What are we looking for?

We are looking for a Senior Data & Analytics Architect to work with PayJoy as a key technical authority within their Global Metrics team, helping define the architecture, standards, and analytical foundations that support Customer Support operations globally.

This is a senior individual contributor and technical leadership role, with no direct people-management responsibilities. You'll own and evolve the end-to-end data architecture across the Global Customer Support ecosystem, including data ingestion patterns, Medallion Architecture (Bronze / Silver / Gold), dimensional modeling, semantic layers, KPI frameworks, data governance, and analytical standards.

The role requires strong hands-on experience with Databricks and dbt, along with experience working with large-scale datasets, high-volume data ingestion, and scalable data pipelines. You'll work closely with the Global Metrics Senior Manager, Engineering, Business Analytics, and Data Platform teams, as well as business stakeholders, to translate complex business requirements into scalable, standardized, and maintainable data and analytics solutions.

Experience with AI-oriented data architectures and data modeling for MLOps is highly desirable, though not mandatory.

If you are fluent in English, proactive, and detail-oriented, with strong communication skills and a passion for building scalable data foundations, this position might be a great fit for you! This role is 100% remote, and you will be integrated directly into PayJoy's engineering team, gaining valuable international experience while working through Blue Coding.

Here are some of the exciting day-to-day challenges you will face in this role:
  • Own and evolve the Bronze / Silver / Gold data architecture for the Global Metrics ecosystem, and define scalable patterns for integrating new Customer Support platforms and data sources.
  • Design dimensional, relational, and analytical data models, and define standards for data ingestion, transformation, storage, and consumption.
  • Design scalable data pipelines using Databricks and dbt, working with large-scale datasets and high-volume ingestion workloads, and support ingestion strategies using platforms such as Fivetran, APIs, and cloud object storage.
  • Own the design and evolution of the analytics semantic layer, defining scalable frameworks for KPIs, business metrics, dimensions, and analytical entities, and govern the Gold analytical layer used by dashboards, analytics, AI, and reporting.
  • Define and maintain standards for KPI definitions, calculations, dimensions, and business rules, and maintain and evolve the business glossary and data dictionary.
  • Define how new systems and vendors are integrated into the data ecosystem, evaluating integration alternatives such as APIs, event streams, file exports, and managed ingestion platforms.
  • Serve as a senior technical reference for Data and Analytics Architecture, providing architectural guidance to Data Engineers and Business Analysts, and mentoring team members on data modeling and semantic design.
  • Document architectural decisions, data models, integration patterns, and technical standards to reduce knowledge concentration and key-person dependency.
  • Collaborate closely with the Senior Manager of Global Metrics, along with Project Managers, Data Engineers, and Business Analysts, as well as global Customer Support, Product, Risk, Operations, and Engineering stakeholders.
You will shine if you have:
  • 3+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, Data Architecture, Business Intelligence Architecture, or similar roles, with proven experience designing and implementing scalable analytical data solutions.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Databricks and dbt, Advanced SQL, dimensional data modeling, data warehouse/lakehouse architectures, Medallion Architecture, and semantic layers.
  • Required experience working with large-scale datasets and high-volume data ingestion, along with designing and optimizing scalable data pipelines.
  • Experience with Fivetran or equivalent managed ingestion platforms is preferred, and experience with Spark and distributed data processing is strongly preferred.
  • Experience designing analytics solutions consumed by BI platforms such as Hex, Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or Mode.
  • Familiarity with LLM-based analytics, context engineering, NLP/text analytics, and Data-Centric AI principles is a nice to have; MLOps-oriented data modeling or ML-ready data architectures is a strong differentiator.
  • Python knowledge is highly desirable, along with a solid understanding of data governance, lineage, data quality, and metadata management.
  • Strong technical ownership and autonomy, structured and systems-oriented thinking, and the ability to navigate ambiguous and complex business requirements.
  • Ability to influence technical decisions without formal people-management authority, and to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Native Spanish and advanced English, or native Portuguese and advanced English. Must be comfortable leading technical discussions, architecture reviews, and presentations in English.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, Statistics, or a related technical field (equivalent professional experience may be considered in place of formal education).
What we offer
  • Salary between 5K and 7K USD
  • Direct employment with PayJoy, including:
    • All statutory benefits required by local law.
    • Personal and family medical insurance.
    • $2,000 USD annual education bonus.
    • Stock options.
    • $500 USD annual wellness support.
    • Company All Hands events and company retreats.
    • Meals included at all global offices.
  • Hybrid Remote-On-site role in Bogota, Mexico City or Sao Paulo
This role is hybrid, based in Bogota, Sao Paulo, or Ciudad de Mexico, and you would join PayJoy's engineering team directly as a full-time employee, gaining valuable international experience. Ready to learn more? Apply below!
