What is a full time behavior technician?

A Full Time Behavior Technician is a professional who works with individuals, often children, with behavioral challenges or developmental disorders such as autism. They implement behavior intervention plans developed by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) to help clients improve their social, communication, and daily living skills. This role typically involves one-on-one sessions, data collection, and close collaboration with families and other care providers. Working full time means the technician usually works around 35-40 hours per week, often in homes, schools, or clinical settings.

As a Full Time Behavior Technician, you will regularly collaborate with Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), other technicians, and sometimes educators or family members to implement treatment plans for clients. This team-based approach not only supports your professional growth through feedback and guidance but also helps maintain consistency and effectiveness in client care. Regular team meetings and training sessions are common, fostering a supportive environment where ideas and strategies are shared.
