Job Summary:
BeOne Medicines is a rapidly growing company focused on fighting cancer, seeking a highly motivated Senior Bioinformatics Scientist to join their Translational Discovery, Research, and Medicine team. The successful candidate will enhance bioinformatics capabilities to support clinical biomarker analysis and translational research, leveraging extensive technical expertise in clinical biomarker data analysis and interpretation.
Responsibilities:
• Serve as the lead bioinformatics scientist of the internal drug discovery and development programs, providing comprehensive support for new target exploration and validation, Omics-related experiment design and analysis, clinical biomarker testing platform and vendor selection, and clinical biomarker analysis with interpretation.
• Design, develop, and deploy robust bioinformatics workflows and interactive tools to analyze high-dimensional Omics data, with an emphasis on bulk and single-cell transcriptomes, whole-exome sequencing (WES), and proteomes data.
• Collaborate with the IT team to build and maintain the bioinformatics computing and analysis infrastructure.
• Mine proprietary and public biological and biomedical data to generate novel hypotheses or insights, and propose the follow-up validation plans.
• Work closely with research scientists and the global biomarker and translational research team, adhering to sound scientific practices and maintaining effective documentation of activities and analyses.
• Present analytical results in a clear and concise manner, utilizing well-designed presentation materials.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or other related fields with at least 2 years of relevant industry experience.
• Extensive technical expertise in clinical biomarker data analysis and interpretation.
• Strong biological background in Oncology and Immunology.
• Excellent communication skills to facilitate international and cross-functional collaboration.
• Proficient in programming and scripting with R, along with the expertise in at least one other programming language (e.g., Python, Perl, Java).
• Skilled in working with Linux systems and server/cloud computing environments.
• Extensive experience in analyzing high-throughput biomedical data (e.g., RNASeq, scRNAseq, WES, spatial gene expression profiling, or human genetics): including data cleaning, functional annotation, normalization, interpretation, and visualization.
• Familiarity with tools for reproducible research such as Git, Conda, Snakemake, or Nextflow.
• Proven expertise in clinical biomarker analysis, with a particular focus on Omics biomarker data for hematology, oncology and immunology-related drug discovery and development.
• Comprehensive understanding or demonstrated strong interest in drug discovery and development, oncology, immunology, or other disease areas.
• Solid background in statistics and mathematics.
• Strategic thinker, self-motivated, and adept at working collaboratively within an international and dynamic environment.
• Quick learner, enthusiastic about taking on new challenges.
• Excellent communication, project management, and leadership skills.
• Proficient in English speaking and writing; fluent in Mandarin.
• US citizenship or green card required.
Preferred:
• Experience in hematology research and projects is a plus.
• Experience with machine learning/AI is a plus.
• Full-time position based in the San Carlos, CA office preferred.
