Description
Company Overview:
Bridgehead IT is a leading provider of innovative technology solutions dedicated to guaranteed outcomes that bring peace of mind and improve its clients' bottom line. With a commitment to operational excellence and clientsatisfaction, Bridgehead IT delivers tailored solutions that drive business success.
Position Summary:
The Lead Sales Engineer owns Bridgehead IT's Sales Engineering department and serves as the primary technical lead in the pre-sales process. This role requires deep hands-on IT experience, broad technical fluency across infrastructure, cloud, networking, systems administration, and cybersecurity, and the confidence to lead constructive conversations with Sales, internal teams, and clients. The right candidate will be a builder and operator who can create structure, enforce accountability, protect delivery quality, and ensure every solution is scoped accurately, positioned effectively, and profitable to deliver. This is a high-visibility role that directly impacts win rates, deal velocity, customer outcomes, and the smooth transition from sale to implementation. It also carries responsibility for helping build and scale the Sales Engineering team over time, creating the foundation, process, and culture needed to support future growth.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Partner with sales reps and TAMs throughout the entire pre-sales process, from initial discovery and needs assessments to proposals, SOW creation, and client sign-off. This may also include supporting RFP responses and finalizing quotes.
  • Create clear, accurate Statements of Work (SOWs) and technical documentation using internal resources, ensuring consistency and quality across deliverables.
  • Maintain alignment between Sales Engineering standards and Bridgehead IT's services, products, and vendor partnerships to support accurate and competitive positioning.
  • Take ownership of solution quality by designing tailored IT solutions across hardware, software, networking, cloud, and managed services. Develop solutions that align with client business needs, technical requirements, and operational goals. Clearly define project scope, assumptions, and dependencies while identifying and mitigating potential risks. Validate solution feasibility, delivery readiness, and profitability in collaboration with account management and implementation teams.
  • Serve as trusted technical advisor in client meetings which may include leading technical presentations, Q&A, and relationship-building.
  • Stay current on vendor/product offerings in order to translate complex concepts into compelling language for all stakeholders.
  • Actively participate in team strategy sessions with Sales and Engineering teams.
  • Track pre-sales activities/pipeline to help turn conversations into opportunities.
  • Support team growth by building out the Sales Engineering processes for training and making process improvements to allow additional team members to be onboarded effectively for success.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related field; or 5+ years of experience in equivalent hands-on experience in a technical sales or solutions engineering role.
  • Proven experience in IT solution engineering, pre-sales, or systems integration within a managed services or technology solutions environment.
  • Demonstrated experience developing Statements of Work (SOWs), technical proposals, and solution documentation.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise IT environments including networking, server infrastructure, cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure, M365), endpoint management, and cybersecurity.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft technologies including Microsoft 365, Azure, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Experience working directly with sales teams and contributing to revenue-generating activities.
  • Familiarity with ConnectWise or similar PSA platforms; experience with proprietary sales engineering or quoting tools is a plus

Skills and Competencies:
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present confidently to executives, technical teams, and mixed audiences.
  • Strong consultative selling skills with the ability to ask the right discovery questions and translate needs into technical solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent opportunities and deadlines in a fast-paced, client-driven environment.
  • High attention to detail in technical scoping, pricing, and documentation accuracy.
  • Collaborative team player who thrives working across Sales, TAMs, Project Management, and Service Delivery departments.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently when needed.
  • Professional presence with the ability to represent Bridgehead IT as a credible technical expert in client-facing settings.

Preferred Certifications:
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)
  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert
  • CompTIA Network+ or Security+
  • Cisco CCNA or equivalent networking credential
  • ITIL Foundation (preferred but not required)
