Job description

Summary
The Engineering Technician II is responsible for providing support as the Light Armored Vehicle (LAV) Field Service Representative (FSR) to the Program Manager Office for Light Armored Vehicles at US Marine Corps Logistics (USMC) Depot Barstow, CA, but as needed travels 10% of their time. The FSR operates vehicles, tools, tools, and test equipment associated with the family of light armored vehicles (FOLAV); performing maintenance up to the Depot Level per the technical manuals when required by PM LAV.
The salary for this position is $66,809/year.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Monitor and update the Master Work Schedules (MWS) in automated information systems, the Total Enterprise Asset Management System (TEAMS) site, and SharePoint to identify and track LAVs scheduled for induction, shipment, and arrival to and from Marine Corps Logistics Bases (MCLB), and Marine Corps units; and when LAVs are inducted sold into and out of the Albany, GA and Barstow, CA production plants.
  • Perform quality control and technical inspections as required for induction of LAVs to the production plants for repairs.
  • Perform initial joint Limited Technical Inspections (LTI) and document results with production plant and storage personnel, IAW applicable technical manuals for LAVs arriving at the MCLBs.
  • Perform Weld Inspections once LAVs have completed the weld process in the production plants IAW applicable TMs.
  • Perform a Final Inspection to include the ordnance vehicle logbook, IAW the Inspection and Repair Only As Necessary (IROAN), statement of work, and applicable TMs prior to storage.
  • Remove and install Class IX repair parts IAW applicable TMs as directed.
  • Ship and receive Class IX repair parts and/or equipment as approved and funded.
  • Install Modification Instructions as directed.
  • Perform quality control and technical inspections for the sale of FOLAV.
  • Travel as approved to perform technical analysis on LAVs located at other USMC installations in response to Product Quality Deficiency Reports.
  • Provide technical input and verification of publication changes to support quarterly Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs)/publication updates by performing a physical validation/verification of the changes using the LAVs located at Albany, GA and Barstow, CA.
  • Track and locate all frustrated (unclaimed or detained) cargo utilizing Government provided shipping schedules and tracking documentations from the vendor.
  • Submit monthly status, maintenance, and travel reports to the program manager.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to pass government security screening.
  • Ability to maintain access to government work locations.
  • 8 or more years of previous experience in the following:
    • USMC MOS 2147, LAV repairer/technician or
    • US Army MOS 91S, Stryker Systems Maintainer or
    • US Army MOS91X, Maintenance Supervisor or
    • US Army MOS 91Z, Senior Maintenance Supervisor
    • Previous maintenance supervision and reporting experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
  • Certified Associate Welding Inspector (CAWI)
