How much do full time animation jobs pay per hour?

As of Jun 15, 2026, the average hourly pay for full time animation in the United States is $39.41, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $21.88 and $63.94 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What job makes $10,000 a month without a degree?

Full-time animation roles typically do not pay $10,000 a month without specialized skills, experience, or a strong portfolio. High earnings in creative fields like animation often require years of work, freelance projects, or working for top studios, and most entry-level positions pay less. Alternative high-paying jobs without degrees include sales, real estate, or entrepreneurship, but these are not specific to animation.

Can you make a living off of animation?

Full-time animators can make a living depending on their experience, skill level, and the industry they work in, such as film, gaming, or advertising. Salaries vary widely, with experienced professionals earning competitive wages, especially if they develop specialized skills or work for established companies. Building a strong portfolio and proficiency in tools like Adobe Animate or Toon Boom can improve earning potential.

What is the difference between Full Time Animation vs Part Time Animation?

AspectFull Time AnimationPart Time Animation
Work HoursTypically 35-40 hours per weekFewer hours, often less than 20 hours per week
Employment StatusFull-time employee with benefitsPart-time employee or freelancer without full benefits
CredentialsUsually requires a portfolio, relevant degree, or certificationSimilar credentials, but often more flexible in experience
Work EnvironmentOffice or studio setting, collaborative environmentRemote or freelance, flexible location

Full Time Animation roles involve consistent, full-week work with benefits and a structured environment, ideal for those seeking stability. Part Time Animation offers flexible hours, often remote, suitable for freelancers or those balancing other commitments. Both roles typically require similar skills and credentials, but differ mainly in hours, benefits, and work setting.

What jobs will be gone in the next 5 years?

In the next five years, some traditional animation roles may decline due to automation and advances in AI-driven tools, which can perform basic animation tasks. However, specialized roles requiring creative storytelling, complex character design, and advanced software skills are expected to remain in demand. Adaptability and proficiency with industry-standard software like Adobe Animate or Toon Boom are important for animation professionals to stay relevant.

Will AI replace animators?

AI technology can automate certain tasks in animation, such as in-betweening and rendering, but it is unlikely to fully replace animators. Skilled animators are needed to create creative, expressive, and complex animations that require human judgment and artistic vision. Many animation roles will evolve to incorporate AI tools, emphasizing skills in both traditional animation and new technologies.
