Full Time Animation information

Can you make a living off of animation?

Full-time animation jobs can provide a stable income, especially for experienced professionals working in film, television, or gaming industries. Success often depends on skill level, portfolio quality, and the ability to secure consistent projects or employment, with many animators supplementing income through freelance work or multiple clients.

What is the difference between Full Time Animation vs Part Time Animation?

AspectFull Time AnimationPart Time Animation
Work HoursTypically 35-40 hours per weekFewer hours, often less than 20 hours per week
Employment StatusFull-time employee with benefitsPart-time employee or freelancer without full benefits
CredentialsUsually requires a portfolio, relevant degree, or certificationSimilar credentials, but often more flexible in experience
Work EnvironmentOffice or studio setting, collaborative environmentRemote or freelance, flexible location

Full Time Animation roles involve consistent, full-week work with benefits and a structured environment, ideal for those seeking stability. Part Time Animation offers flexible hours, often remote, suitable for freelancers or those balancing other commitments. Both roles typically require similar skills and credentials, but differ mainly in hours, benefits, and work setting.

What is the highest paid animation job?

The highest paid animation jobs are typically senior roles such as Lead Animator, Animation Director, or VFX Supervisor, often found in film, television, or gaming industries. These positions require extensive experience, advanced skills in software like Maya or Houdini, and often involve managing teams and overseeing large projects, with salaries reaching six figures or more depending on the industry and location.

Will AI replace animators?

AI technology can automate certain tasks in animation, such as rendering and basic motion generation, but it is unlikely to fully replace animators. Skilled animators are needed for creative input, storytelling, and complex character development, which currently require human expertise and artistic judgment.

Is there a high demand for animators?

The demand for full-time animators is strong in industries such as entertainment, advertising, and gaming, driven by the growth of digital media and content creation. Skills in software like Adobe Animate, Maya, or Blender, along with a strong portfolio, can improve job prospects, which are expected to remain steady as visual content continues to expand across platforms.

Job description

Company Description
For over 100 years, BlueScope continues to build on our reputation of quality brands and products, leading technology and a customer-first spirit. Through our global brands, we are one of the largest manufacturers of building solutions in the world. Our diverse, bright and inspired workforce is committed to bettering the communities we serve through breakthrough thinking and innovations. Your goals, ideas and perspective can help shape our future - we look forward to hearing them!
The 3D Visualization Specialist plays a critical role in bringing our brand to life through high-impact, photorealistic renderings and animations of products, components, and complete building systems. This contractor will support the Brand Studio's creative efforts by producing dynamic visual content used across websites, digital tools, sales materials, and marketing campaigns.
Working full-time remotely, the contractor will collaborate closely with the Lead Brand Creative to receive direction, incorporate feedback, and ensure all visual outputs align with brand standards and project goals. This role requires the ability to take technical CAD models and transform them into clean, optimized, and hyper-realistic assets suitable for a variety of outputs, including static imagery, motion graphics, and animated sequences.
This specialist will also support future-looking initiatives, contributing to the development of AR/VR experiences, interactive 3D applications, and animation-based storytelling-enabling the brand to communicate complex ideas with clarity and impact.
Required Skills
  • Expert-level proficiency in photorealistic 3D rendering and animation tools (e.g., V-Ray, Twinmotion, Unreal Engine, Blender, 3dstudio Max)
  • Strong knowledge of lighting, composition, and virtual camera work for high-end visual storytelling
  • Experience creating and managing PBR materials and texture libraries
  • Advanced 3D modeling skills across architectural and product categories
  • Ability to convert CAD files into optimized visualization assets for multiple outputs
  • Familiarity with animation workflows, including rigging, timing, and sequencing
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere) for post-production and motion design
  • Understanding of branding principles and maintaining consistency across deliverables
  • Experience optimizing files for various channels including web, digital platforms, and video
  • Excellent communication skills and responsiveness when working in a remote, collaborative environment
  • Self-directed, organized, and capable of managing deadlines in a fast-paced creative setting
