Job Title: Anesthesia Tech/ Labor and Delivery
Employment Type: Full-time
Shift: Nights (12-hour shifts)
Location: Silver Spring
Position Purpose
  • The Surgical Services Anesthesia Tech performs patient care duties delegated by the RN related to patients' personal needs, comfort, and safety.

As a "Anesthesia Tech" you will:
  • Cleans and replaces used supplies, equipment at the conclusion of each case. If meds are found unattended the anesthesia tech demonstrates accountability in securing the meds by contacting a licensed professional i.e. registered nurse or anesthesiologist for proper disposable.
  • Stocks and cleans carts used for anesthesia supplies and equipment. Maintains and cleans "travel" anesthesia carts, fast track prep cart and difficult intubation and A line carts.
  • Cleans and replaces anesthesia related equipment (i.e., blades, masks, suction equipment).
  • Cleans and maintains anesthesia equipment in the unit and reports malfunctioning equipment to the Nurse Manager, Assistant Nurse Manager, and to Biomedical Department.
  • Consistently, accurately, and promptly transmits accurate information regarding reports, patient data, patient requests, or other pertinent information to appropriate healthcare team members.
  • Stocks sterile and unsterile supplies on Operating Rooms, Anesthesia store room, and patient areas.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Certification as an Anesthesia Technician preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Successful completion of adult basic education evaluations for math and reading
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language
  • Visual accuracy
  • Auditory acuity
  • Basic computer skills, to include data entry and retrieval
  • Ability to coordinate eyes and hands quickly and accurately
  • Ability to identify and distinguish color, temperature, texture, and size
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 35 pounds, as determined by the nature of the patient care unit. Must be able to push, pull, lift patients and equipment (e.g. beds, stretchers).
  • Must be able to bend body downward at the waist and be able to kneel.

Pay Range: $20.70 - $28.99
Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
FT/PT Benefit eligible Roles:
**0.5 FTE (20 hours weekly) up to 1.0 FTE (40 hours weekly)
