Role Purpose
Corning is seeking a Quality Control Technician II to join our team in Durham, NC. In this role, you will perform biological, chemical, and environmental testing in support of product release, equipment qualification, validation, and process improvement initiatives - helping ensure our products meet rigorous quality and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform microbiological, cell-based, and chemistry testing - including Total Organic Carbon (TOC), Gram staining, growth promotion, particulate count, bioburden, sterility, endotoxin, and cell-based assays - to verify compliance with quality standards and complete investigations and corrective actions as needed
  • Conduct routine environmental monitoring of water, air, and surface quality to identify and mitigate contamination risks
  • Manage sample distribution and documentation, ensuring accurate tracking and record-keeping throughout the testing process
  • Enter test results, observations, and laboratory activities into data management systems accurately and in a timely manner
  • Support assay validations, equipment qualifications, and special assignments under general supervision; implement and revise standard operating procedures (SOPs) to drive workflow efficiency
  • Maintain laboratory cleanliness and organization, and oversee inventory of supplies and reagents to ensure the lab remains fully operational

Experiences/Education - Required
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biological Sciences, or equivalent combination of education and related industry experience in a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) environment
  • 2+ years of directly related laboratory experience
  • Proficiency in microbiological and cell-based assay techniques, including the ability to detect and resolve issues within cell or microbial assays
  • Experience with aseptic techniques and contamination prevention practices
  • Working knowledge of quality system regulations including ISO 9001, ISO 11137, ISO 13485, ISO 14644, 21 CFR Parts 210/211 and 820, current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and United States Pharmacopeia (USP) requirements

Experiences/Education - Desired
  • Experience performing assay validations or equipment qualifications in a regulated environment
  • Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) or electronic data management platforms
  • Experience training laboratory personnel on established procedures
  • Able to document and communicate technical findings clearly to supervisors and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Analytical approach to diagnosing and resolving laboratory or assay-level technical issues

The range for this position is $58,236.00 - $80,075.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
