Job description

This is an opportunity in the exciting and fast-growing transportation technology industry. Public transit is being transformed from a system of static, scheduled fixed-routes, to a dynamic on-demand network, and you will be one of the pioneers shaping this transformation.

As a Senior Full Stack Developer at RideCo, you will play a key role in shaping the architecture, design, and delivery of our industry-leading ride sharing platform. You will own features end-to-end across the stack, mentor team members, and drive technical decisions that directly influence product direction. This role is ideal for a developer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is motivated by building impactful, scalable solutions for real-world challenges. 

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Backend Development:

  • Design, build and maintain robust, scalable APIs using Django to power web and mobile applications.
  • Implement data models and business logic to manage complex interactions and handle high transaction volumes efficiently.
  • Ensure backend systems are secure, reliable, and optimized for performance.

Frontend Development:

  • Develop dynamic, user-friendly interfaces with Angular, ensuring seamless user experiences across desktop and mobile platforms.
  • Create reusable UI components and implement responsive designs that adapt across different devices and screen sizes.
  • Optimize front-end performance for fast load times and smooth interactions.

Mobile Application Development:

  • Design and develop hybrid mobile applications using Ionic for Android and iOS platforms.
  • Enhance mobile app functionality with new features while ensuring cross-platform compatibility.
  • Collaborate with the design team to create visually appealing and intuitive mobile user interfaces.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with product managers, designers, and other developers to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Take ownership in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives and cross-team collaboration to ensure alignment and timely delivery.
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior and mid-level developers. 

Testing and Maintenance:

  • Write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests to ensure code quality and system stability.
  • Perform debugging and troubleshooting to resolve issues across the stack quickly.
  • Maintain and enhance existing codebases, ensuring they stay up-to-date with modern practices and technologies.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Lead code reviews to raise the bar for code quality and team knowledge. 
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and recommend new tools, frameworks and processes. 
  • Contribute to improving team workflows, tools, and processes for greater efficiency.

 Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 3+ years in a senior role
  • Proven expertise in building and maintaining responsive web applications.
  • Strong experience designing, building, and maintaining RESTful APIs.
  • Solid understanding of HTML5, CSS3, and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
  • Experience developing hybrid mobile applications using Ionic.
  • Proficiency in Python (Django or Flask) and Angular frameworks.
  • Experience with databases such as PostgreSQL and Redis.
  • Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, EC2, RDS).
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies and CI/CD processes.
  • Excitement for learning new technologies and solving complex problems.
