Job Summary

The Swissport Fueling Services, Inc., Phoenix Fuel Facilities Operations Manager is responsible for the safety and wellbeing of staff and will promote safety-first culture, ensuring the efficient maintenance and operation of the fuel facilities. The Operations Manager will ensure that Swissport Fueling and the Fuel Facility Corporation policies and procedures are adhered to by way of performance and in keeping with the specifications of the Maintenance, Operation and Management Agreement. The Fuel Facility Manager will ensure that facilities are operated in compliance with ATA 103, SPCC, FRP, and CFR 195 regulations, Storm Water Pollution Prevention; Federal, State, and Local environmental regulations; and OSHA regulations; assist with construction projects; update, as required, the SPCC Plan, Storm Water Plan, and Emergency Response Plan; be responsible for employee safety, operational training programs, and proper utilization of manpower.

The expected pay rate is $100,000-$145,000/year. Full-time employees are offered a range of health and wellness benefits as well as 401(k) with company match paid vacation time, sick time, and company paid holidays.  

Your activities

  • Assist in preparation of consortium operating budget to include any operational concerns/requirements for approval by the AFFC Fuel Chairperson and its members.
  • Review proper staffing levels to ensure service levels are kept within the parameters of the budget and the needs of the business.
  • Review all equipment and personal injury accidents that take place at the fuel facilities and develop corrective action, incorporating Company policies.
  • Ensure appropriate response to airport infractions and breaches of the Company’s operating rules/procedures and take corrective action if required.
  • Ensures direct reports are in compliance with all company, customer, industry and Federal agency training and safety requirements including documentation through training records.
  • Ensure that both the company and consortium financial targets are met.
  • Ensure a good working relationship with the various control authorities such as Airport Management and Federal Agencies to include; FAA, TSA, Customs, EPA, Immigrations etc.
  • Ensure implementation of appropriate training programs, including preventative maintenance and safety, for new hires and recurring training for experienced employees.
  • Monitor inventory controls and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Monitor for compliance with fuel inventory controls and environmental compliance.
  • Review employees’ absenteeism and initiate appropriate corrective action in accordance with the Company’s attendance policy.
  • Adhere to the limits of authority as set forth in the Maintenance, Operation and Management Services Agreement and Swissport’s Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Ensures the implementation of the stations Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure Plan, Facility Response Plan, Environmental Emergency Response Plan, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan and other assigned plans and programs as directed by the General Manager.
  • Ensure the fair, firm and consistent accountability of all employees with SOPs and policies
  • Performs routine performance appraisals of direct reports and oversees the feedback, professional growth and planning for all those assigned under their leadership.

Your profile

  • Excellent leadership and people management skills
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university: or 5 years’ experience or training in a fuel facility or similar background or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Detailed in-depth knowledge regarding fuel infrastructure including pipelines is required
  • Tank farm and pipeline care and maintenance experience strongly desired
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to present at all levels
  • Strong operational and people management skills
  • Proficient in desktop computing applications including Microsoft Office Word, Excell, PowerPoint
  • Customer focus and quality awareness
  • Ability to deal with conflicts
  • Ability to meet and abide by deadlines
  • Technical knowledge of fueling equipment and systems
  • Working knowledge of State and Federal Hazardous Waste Regulations
  • Available for crisis management response and respond to the station as required
  • Must be available and flexible to work variable shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Possess and maintains a current driver’s license
  • Ability to work independently and accurately without direct supervision
