FUEL DISPATCHER – JOB DESCRIPTION

Fuel Dispatcher Responsibilities: The Fuel Dispatcher position coordinates detailed dispatch specifications for customers, performs load planning activities, coordinates load assignments, monitors physical inventories, and handles administrative paperwork and computer entry duties. The Dispatcher is the primary contact between the customers, drivers, and the Company. The emphasis of this position is ensuring that customers’ needs are met in a prompt and professional manner. The Fuel Dispatcher will work closely with the Fuel Transport Drivers and reports directly to the Transport General Manager.

Fuel Dispatcher duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for monitoring the fuel inventory at Company and customer locations
  • Dispatch Company drivers and common carriers to replenish fuel inventory to company operated locations and customer locations across Indiana, Michigan, and Illinois
  • Prepare schedules indicating loading and unloading times and assign drivers and equipment
  • Demonstrate compliance with Federal, State and Local rules & regulations
  • Complete daily and weekly operational reports
  • Monitor fuel usage and make independent decisions about when and where to deliver fuel, including decisions regarding diverting loads, canceling deliveries and adding deliveries
  • Ensure the customer’s overall experience and service exceeds Company standards
  • Contact customers to schedule deliveries based on forecast and projected fueling needs
  • Work with the Pricing Analyst to identify lowest cost of goods and market strategy on a daily basis
  • Maximize customer service and Company profits through effective management of fuel

Experience/Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Two (2) year of transportation dispatching experience
  • Two (2) year of local routing dispatch experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office to include Outlook, Word, and Excel

Preferred Skills:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree
  • Previous fuel industry logistics and dispatch experience
  • Familiarity with OPIS and Platts pricing indexes
  • Dispatch software experience (Intellifuel, SmartLogix, etc.)
  • Experience or knowledge of fuel inventory management tools

Hours:

  • Fuel Dispatcher is a full time position and works a minimum of 40 hours a week. Open availability is required. Must be flexible with regard to scheduled hours; willing to work days, nights, weekends and holidays.

Salary/Income:

  • Fuel Dispatcher is an exempt, salaried position




Thursday, Friday & Saturday 4am-4pm
Every other Wednesday 4am-4pm
