Job description

The Specialist Transportation GSN plays a critical role in ensuring our key customers (internal and external) receive complete and on-time shipments. This position is responsible for coordinating outbound domestic and international Less than Truckload and Truckload shipments, supporting strategic account routing, and managing carrier relationships across multiple transportation portals and systems.
**This role is based in our distribution facility in Evansville, IN.

Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:

  • Process direct to store routing for strategic accounts following vendor guidelines
  • Research and resolve shipment conflicts and freight discrepancies involving weight variances from carrier claims
  • Generate ASN's and process EDI's for customers who require them with all shipments
  • Assist with paperwork filing and electronic recordkeeping for LTL and Truckload shipments, including scanning and maintaining all related documents
  • Assist with month end revenue validation efforts which include providing copies of BOL's or working with our logistics partners to provide 3rd party reporting
  • Manage daily carrier sheet creation and distribution for strategic accounts, communicating outbound shipment details to the facility operations team each morning
  • Manage Canadian account shipments including RPA (Return/Pickup Authorization) creation, tracking, and reissuance with international carriers and service providers
  • Verify order release accuracy (unit counts, PO status) prior to load release for key accounts
  • Coordinate refused delivery resolution including return authorization initiation and freight recovery back to the distribution facility or transfers across accounts
  • Manage routing and appointment workflows across multiple customer transportation portals and carrier systems simultaneously
  • Support outbound shipping operations for multiple brands operating within the facility, ensuring each brand's shipments are processed accurately and in accordance with their respective requirements
  • Performs other related duties and assignments as required.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

  • Proven ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Strong English written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact with all levels
  • Proficient in ERP, WMS, and related reporting tools
  • Solid understanding of transportation rules and regulations
  • Basic understanding of international shipping practices including cross-border documentation and carrier coordination; Familiarity with Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) operations and procedures
  • Base level familiarity with AI tools and a willingness to incorporate them into daily workflows

Education, Work Experience, and Professional Certifications:

  • High school diploma required; Bachelors degree preferred
  • 4+ years of experience in distribution, shipping/receiving, logistics or transportation related role

Work Environment / Physical Requirements:

  • Combination of normal office conditions with extensive computer and phone usage, and warehouse conditions
  • This role regularly requires overtime and evening availability; carrier pickups, customer appointment deadlines, and time-sensitive shipment changes routinely require attention outside of standard business hours
  • Able to work efficiently and accurately in an atmosphere of frequent interruption.
  • Light physical effort equal to frequent lifting or moving of lightweight materials.
